Players On The Rise

Josh Donaldson joins an elite club this week as his plus-three upgrade got him up to Diamond-level status. A lot of people thought this was long overdue, but it's good to see a guy like Donaldson continue a rise that began last year. He's an elite player with an elite rating now.

The other biggest winners this week from the upper echelon were Todd Frazier and Manny Machado. Machado becomes one of the best all-around players in the game with his plus-six boost (and you can play him at shortstop due to his very impressive defensive ratings), and Frazier becomes that much more terrifying as a power threat at third base.

One other major thing to note is that with Machado's plus-six boost, you no longer need him to complete the Baltimore Orioles Collection. In other words, a couple guys like Chris Davis may go up in price a bit, but that collection now should be cheaper to complete.

Players On The Decline

It was probably the most uneventful week so far as it relates to declines. Nobody had to deal with major changes in the higher tier of player ratings, and Josh Collmenter is the only player who had a tier change this week.

With that being said, it was also a unique week because a bunch of very good players did receive downgrades, they just were not major ones. Carlos Gomez, Adrian Gonzalez, Jose Altuve and Brett Gardner all got dinged, but only Altuve lost more than one point (two in his case) from his overall rating.

Lastly, Collmenter and Tanner Roark were a couple of the biggest losers this week, but it was mostly tied to a position change from SP to RP.

Market Changes

There was a new pack over the weekend called the K's For Days Pack. It obviously made some pitchers less expensive, but it touched on all tiers of pitchers.

Ratings Boost Prediction Results

Let's see how I did on my predictions this week (and as always come back over the weekend for next week's predictions):

-From the High Probability section I went: (4/6)

This was a really good week. I played it safe in some capacity, but I was still focusing on guys who had seen upgrades this season. Still, Chris Sale and Billy Burns were my only two misses, and I still bet they get upgrades in the next week or two.

-From the Moderate Probability section I went: (1/6)

This one stings. I got Cameron Maybin and missed on everyone else. Still, I feel Kevin Pillar and Max Scherzer are certainly getting boosts in the near future.

-From the Low Probability section I went: (4/8)

Hey, this category worked out at least. Some people probably would not have had Donaldson in the "low" section but rather would have placed him higher, but still he had sort of cooled down a bit by last week. Either way, I hit on two of the four Pirates picks and also got Mitch Moreland right. If anybody from this group gets an upgrade next week, my bet would be Carlos Correa is the one who gets the love.

New Players

There are 9 new players in Diamond Dynasty this week that will impact Collections (including Francisco Lindor and Byron Buxton! But still, there's no Lance McCullers as of yet because apparently there is some licensing issue holding things up):

  • Mason Williams (NYY)
  • Byron Buxton (MIN)
  • Francisco Lindor (CLE)
  • Trevor Gott (LAA)
  • Akeel Morris (NYM)
  • Daniel Castro (ATL)
  • Wilfredo Boscan (PIT)
  • Donovan Hand (CIN)
  • Justin R. Miller (COL)

Finally Donaldson went Diamond! Took them long enough. Really surprised Sale didn't get an upgrade. Considering he's been doing that 12k+ thing for 5 straight starts, pitches every 5 days = 25 days = 3 weeks and some days. Figured it was time.

Also surprised Machado got a HUGE upgrade of +6. Thought he'd get upgrade but not that high.

Machado is mashing the ball right now. If he didn't have his injury last year he may have broke the record for doubles in a season. And he's hitting home runs this year too.

Still waiting on them to fix Kevin Kiermaiers 56 speed rating 12 stealing and 17 aggressiveness. KK prob the most aggressive baserunner IRL. just to name some players that have more speed than him in the game that are no where near as fast as him IRL: Asdrubal Cabrera, dd gregorious, Pedroia, Hanley, machado, matt kemp, todd frazier, ryan braun, kris bryant.... some of those guys can barely run.

Yeah +6 is a lot for a Gold, but he is really friggin' good.

3 games since the update and Todd Fraizer entering my starting lineup. 3 HR, 8 RBI. Guy is a stud now.

I say he was already evil, but yeah now he's just an absolute terror.

sooooooo Pujols is going for about 8k right now. I bought 4 when he was 1k, stupidly sold 3 of them prematurely, now i'm wondering if I should sell the one I have now or what...

oh and I sold Donaldson a few days ago for 10k.

I think Pujols is about as high as he's going to get. Would make sense to sell to me. You generally might get a bit more if you wait until tomorrow, but I don't think it's a huge gap either way.

I absolutely think pujols will continue to go up if he stays hot or even levels off to being the player he was in St. Louis... He's currently in the best stretch of his career and that's saying a lot considering this guy was talked about as being the best player in baseball a few years back... I could really see SCEA making him a diamond soon

if he makes it to 9-10k i'm gonna sell him and buy Rizzo because I need a lefty 1B to platoon with Bagwell
