MLB 15 The Show: Diamond Dynasty Stock Watch (5-25-15)

Players On The Rise

Bryce Harper has become everything everyone projected he would be this season, and with that came Diamond tier status in Diamond Dynasty this week. I am not shocked it happened, but I am a little shocked it happened already. He deserves the rating, but he's been getting ratings boosts almost every week so I was not sure if he would get another big one so soon -- but he did. With his upgrade, Harper's no longer needed for the Nationals Collection anymore.

Other big winners this week come from the Braves as Shelby Miller and Freddie Freeman both went Gold. A couple other players who seemed a bit overdue for ratings boost also got an uptick this week in Todd Frazier, Ryan Braun, Freddy Galvis, Brandon Crawford and Lucas Duda.

The biggest winner this week was Vidal Nuno who was a plus-seven week over week in Overall rating. And the final note is Dee Gordon going up plus-three means he's no longer needed for the Marlins Collection. Therefore, the Marlins are now one of the easier Collections to finish.

Players On The Decline

The Padres took it on the chin this week as four players were downgraded. Kimbrel was a minus-two, and he's now needed for the Padres Collection. Matt Kemp dipped to a Silver, and Wil Myers and Yangervis Solarte also dipped.

Chris Davis, Edwin Encarnacion, Anibal Sanchez, Alex Gordon and Ian Desmond all dipped from Gold to Silver as well. Most of those make sense to me, but Encarnacion's is a little surprising as he's still hitting home runs, and Gordon has not had a bad season.

The Mariners also stick out here as Cano and Seager -- two of their best players -- also were downgraded. However, that loss is at least offset a bit by Nelson Cruz getting a boost.

Market Changes

(Note: Everything in this section is based on rough estimates and approximations. The data is taken from last Wednesday and then put against changes on Monday morning after the roster update. The values are then rounded to account for general fluctuations that are common on the market. In other words, this will not be exact.)

No need to worry about the disclaimer above this week. Once again the developers released some packs this weekend that basically pushed most Diamond-level players to cheaper levels (along with most Golds) but did inflate some Silvers as a couple Collections became easier to finish over the weekend.

Players To Watch

I will also now hold predictions until the weekend so they can potentially be more accurate, but I can at least recap hits and misses from my predictions.

-From the High Probability section I went: (6/12)

I felt most confident in Braun and Kipnis getting boosted and they did. The market for sure thought A.J. Burnett would get a boost, but I should have went with my gut and held him out of the "high" list as a veteran like that just won't be boosted very often.

-From the Moderate Probability section I went: (5/11)

I'm not shocked Harper and Cruz got boosts, it just felt like I should put them in this category rather than "high" as they had already received a couple upgrades. I am moderately surprised I whiffed on all my reliever selections, but that shows it's hard to know when they're worthy of being boosted.

-From the Low Probability section I went: (2/7)

Picking any correctly in this section is sort of a bonus. Two veterans got the love this week in Ryan Howard and Kendrys Morales.

He may not be well known, but hector Santiago has looked great this year and he hasn't been touched. And at some point wacha and Richards have to move up to gold if Pineda did, right?

Wacha and Richards for sure. I'm even more bullish on Richards than Wacha -- I think Wacha has gotten some sort of upgrade this year at least.

Santiago walks way too many batters. Control has always been an issue with him

I am liking this new update. Todd Frazier and Brandon Crawford were both my least consistent hitters in my line-up.

First game I played: Two homers with Frazier and two line drives up the middle for Crawford. I also pulled a home-run (only the second I've ever hit with him).

The guy was giving me meat and gave up early but I was still pleased with the boosts.

Drew Storen should've gotten a boost though.

True, that has been his Achilles heel in the past, but not a problem this year. His stuff is nasty. Needs a ratings bump.
