MLB 15 The Show: Diamond Dynasty Stock Watch (5-11-15)

Players On The Rise

The biggest risers this week were Michael Pineda, Zach McAllister, Josh Reddick, Marcus Semien, Mark Canha, Colby Rasmus, Andrelton Simmons, Yimi Garcia, Devon Travis and Odrisamer Despaigne. It's obvious to see the Oakland Athletics were the big winners this week in the ratings war.

Looking a bit deeper, Colby Rasmus, Josh Reddick and Odrisimer Despaigne all tied for the largest individual jump as they all received a +5 boost in their overall ratings.

Players On The Decline

A couple big-time players had their ratings dinged this week in Carlos Gonzalez and Victor Martinez. Neither is surprising to see on this list, but the crucial thing is that both have been downgraded from Gold to Silver.

The other biggest losers this week were Shane Greene, Jimmy Rollins, Justin Ruggiano and Ryan Cook.

Market Changes

(Note: Everything in this section is based on rough estimates and approximations. The data is taken from last Wednesday and then put against changes on Monday morning after the roster update. The values are then rounded to account for general fluctuations that are common on the market. In other words, this will not be exact.)

Looking through the market changes in the last week, the price of Dustin Pedroia has slunk back down near 30,000 Stubs. He will generally go up and down, but this is close to as low as I've seen him going to this point. Some of the other biggest losers this week were Corey Kluber, Carlos Gonzalez (no surprise) and Victor Martinez (also no surprise).

Speculation is also hurting some players right now. I think some people were buying Russell Martin cards expecting he might go Gold this week, instead he remains a Silver. Sonny Gray is another player who also seems to be getting nailed by that issue right now -- he's a Gold already but perhaps folks expected him to go up yet again as he's been pitching well.

The big winners this week are clearly Bryce Harper and Matt Harvey. Harvey gets a big boost by going from Gold to Diamond, and Bryce Harper gets to continue rising in price even without a boost in ratings this week. He actually hit a peak on Saturday and has come back down a bit, but there's no reason to think his stock won't continue to stay strong.

Players To Watch

Could Rise

-Bryce Harper has already shot up quite a bit, but if he keeps destroying the baseball, it would not be surprising to see him inch closer to 90 overall.

-Nelson Cruz has stupid stats right now. He is already up to 88 Overall, but again, he could still be going up.

-I don't see any reason Jose Altuve can't become a Diamond-level player at some point.

-Joc Pederson has already received some boosts this year, but I think many are still expecting another boost so it's worth watching if he stays hot this week.

-Russell Martin just needs to keep hitting. If he does that he should go to Gold very soon.

-Starling Marte sits at 84 Overall right now. He's another outfielder who has been playing well, and one hot week could do the trick to bump him to Gold.

-The same goes for Lorenzo Cain.

-Brian Dozier and Manny Machado are two sneakier picks that could potentially go Gold in the near future.

-Freddie Freeman is a more obvious player on the verge, and with Simmons going Gold this week it would not surprise me if Freeman made the leap as well.

-Lance Lynn is sitting at 84 Overall right now. He is a two-start pitcher this week, and if he pitches well it's conceivable he could at least bump up to 85 Overall, which would make him Gold.

-Another two-start pitcher that could get boosted with a solid showing is Rick Porcello.

-The same goes for Kyle Gibson.

Could Fall

-Josh Harrison has really struggled and Jung Ho Kang is now getting much more playing time.

-Chase Utley continues to struggle, and it seems possible he could soon go from Gold to Silver.

-Shin-Soo Choo could go from Silver to Bronze at some point in the near future.

-Adrian Beltre probably won't slip from Diamond to Gold, but I would not blame people for trying to trade him this week.

-Julio Teheran is an 84 overall right now, but it seems more likely he would be going down rather than potentially getting to an 85 overall and becoming Gold.

-Victor Martinez lost his Gold status this week, and Anibal Sanchez right now sits at 86 overall. I don't think he will lose Gold by next week, but again it would maybe not hurt to think about selling Sanchez.

Garrett Richards should be the next player to jump up to gold status. The movement on his pitches are very underrated in this game.

They need to downgrade McCutcheon, how bad do you have to be to get downgraded.

I agree and disagree all you would really downgrade is contact vs righties but it will just go back up soon so why bother.

The thing about baseball is you never know. He might be in a slump year so keeping him a diamond isn't fair to other players out performing him 2 months into the season

Well he is always a slow starter and is already turning around the last few games.
At home. 264 road. 186 & .223 overall Ba he isn't playing bad defense so like I said what would you downgrade stat wise?
All that would make sense is contact vs righties maybe vision but that's already low and maybe clutch. The lowest I could see him going is like a 93 ovr.
I agree he needs a small downgrade but it also makes sense that proven guys don't get huge drops for small slumps.

He started off slow but in his last 7 games he is batting .308 with 4 doubles. I would say he is starting to heat up.
