Three Keys: MLB The Show 15

MLB 14 The Show was an outstanding experience for baseball fans, but many parts of the series have begun to feel old and tired. The possibility that the series is getting stale is very real, so this year the franchise must ensure the product keeps growing.

To avoid becoming stale, and to continue to improve, will require a careful balance of redoing the necessary pieces of the game without going overboard and ruining the winning formula. Here are three key areas the team at SCEA should be focused on:

1. Commentary/Presentation. The commentary was once labeled as some of the best in the business — unfortunately it hasn’t changed much since what feels like forever. New lines or a new group in the booth will help the experience feel fresh instantly.

2. Online Play Has To Work. The Show hasn’t quite gotten online play completely correct since the series first went live. Sure baseball is a timing based game, and sure that means it’s really hard to do online right, but some focus needs to be put here.

3. Improve the Menus. The franchise mode has some serious menu flaws still. This year was a huge improvement over prior years, but the jump going forward is going to have to be similarly huge. The menus went from horrific to serviceable. We need to see those serviceable menus become rather good this year.

What do you think MLB 15 The Show needs to do in order to have a successful season?

What I want is a game where if I play with or against an elite pitcher, they are generally dominant. Too many times I play a season and a Kershaw will get rocked while a #4 starter is lights out.

I will not buy this game again if the franchise mode doesn't improve and has actual new features. Better visual...pfff.

The game needs a more dynamic pickoff/steel combo and fielding needs to be more fun. Superstar shortstops need to play like they are stars. A catcher playing 2nd should look like a catcher playing second. We also need more swing follow throughs. Look at the shot variety in NBA 2K15.

Fix the season 2 schedules, cool I can invest months just so I can find out the schedules are screwed up AND I can bring the screwed up season schedule with me to my new game? Ffs.

multiple players don't swing at strike three in the dirt? Must be a Twins fan...

He's talking about the amount of players that swing at strike three but get thrown out at first which is a bit overdone.

Not the amount of players that swing at strike three in the dirt.

I wish they could mash this game with OOTP. I want to pick a starting point and play through a franchise with one of the great classic rosters that is out there. Have the teams move around like they did in real life, or even have teams added to the league as expansion teams when they are supposed to be added. Editable draft classes would be amazing with this too.

I know that this is way too late and that some of these have been stated thousands of times but these are some ideas I would like to be incorporated into the franchise mode for the show, obviously they can't include all of them straight away but I would think that it would increase the realism of the game. Here's my list of suggestions and take into consideration I'm not a game maker so some of these could be impossible.

Franchise mode
- Ability to trade cash
- Three team trades
- Cpu teams more willing to take prospects for established mlb players
- Front or back loaded contracts
- don't use options for spring training
- Ability to see stats from previous years
- Having your farm director suggest players to draft in first year player draft
- International free agents
- Class A as a team
- Pitchers developing new pitches cause drafted starters sometimes have 2 or 3 pitches and need an extra one to become better
- Signing bonus pool for drafts with high rated players demanding large bonus
- Less lineup changes when simulating
- A difference between durability for injuries and general fatigue as players are getting rested every 4th game due to their low durability attribute however they play everyday in real life but get injured often
- Business side of franchise, ticket pricing, sponsorship, parking, collectibles etc
- Upgrade stadium for better fan emotions
- More ejections and possible suspensions for players that commonly get fired up, and argue with umpires or other players (Carlos Gomez)
- Rainouts
- Doubleheaders
- Fix the schedule for Dodgers and Diamondbacks and the massive gap in spring training
- Star players less likely to get traded
- An actual top 50 prospects list instead of just the emblem, cause there doesn't seem to actually be 50 players with the top prospects emblem
- Less 22-23 year old A potential 40 overall players in the draft
- Players don't develop speed so actually have players in the draft with 80 plus speed and base running attributes low
- More attributes like pitchers and they're ability against lh or rh hitters, pickoff ability, catcher framing, catcher game calling,
- Special promotions to increase attendance
- Able to trade more than 3 players in a single trade
- Cpu comes back with counter trade offers
- More good players enter free agency
- Ability to change team strategy ie win now, rebuild, neutral
- Player of the week, player of the month awards
- All star game and players wearing actual jerseys
- Make spring training more necessary like pitchers building up strength, position battles, last roster spots etc
- Have manager behaviours, like favour matchups with relievers, more or less defensive shifts, double switches, bunts, sac bunts, aggressive base running, green lights on 3-0 etc
- Reset pitching rotation for each playoff series instead of having like 4th starter pitch first game of World Series when your 1st pitcher pitched 5 days ago and is refreshed,
- Better retirements, Jose Bautista retires at 35 in my games
- Have the option to deter players from retiring
- Extensions during season for upcoming free agents or for all players
- No trade clauses, opt outs etc for contract negotiations
- Able to import draft classes
- Realistic contracts

The Dbacks issue will be resolved because those teams played overseas this year. I think it was in Australia.

And the contracts issue ISN'T going to happen because of an issue with MLB not wanting realistic contracts in the games.

I'd settle for editable over realistic any day.

It was actually more realistic when hitters didn't run to first at all lol.

You can't edit them.
You have to manipulate them.....they scale to OVR and ratings.
It's a bit tedious.

The 3 things for me would be better presentation, More in depth Franchise mode since that is all I play, and more Animations. I think the commentary is ok.
