Five Reasons to be Excited for FIFA 15

It’s that time of year again. Fresh off a memorable World Cup, gamers across the globe can’t wait to get their hands on FIFA 15 with hopes of leading their club to glory. With the summer season over and squads finalized, it’s time to rejoice, set your DVRs, order the latest kit, and of course, play FIFA.

Now that the release is less than a week away let’s takes a look at five reasons why you should be excited for FIFA 15:

Barclays Premier League – Make no mistake, the BPL is a huge selling point for EA, and rightfully so. It’s the most popular league in the world with a following that spans the globe. EA Canada realizes this and went all out this year featuring all 20 BPL stadiums, authentic Sky Sports presentation, over 200 new player head scans, crowd specific chants/songs, and even goal line technology. Fans of West Ham United can now sing along when the Upton Park faithful break out in chorus to the tune of “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.”

Pure Emotion – With its second iteration on the latest system, EA Canada has harnessed the power of the PS4 and Xbox One to recreate what you see on your television when watching the beautiful game. With over 600 new emotions you can expect to see your players exhibit a touch of personality. The emotion isn’t solely reserved for the on-the-pitch action. Crowds will also react to crunching tackles, stoppage time goals, and various other events taking place on the pitch. Blow a sitter with Fernando Torres and watch your AC Milan teammates console the once lethal striker as the San Siro crowd voices its displeasure.

Improved AI – We’ve all heard this from EA before in regards to this series. If the demo is indicative of the final product, FIFA fans will be happy with the most intelligent AI this series has seen to date. The CPU will now adapt to your tactics on the fly. Down a goal late in a cup match? Throw on that extra striker and expect to see the CPU employ time-wasting techniques that would make Tony Pulis proud. Players dribbling to the corner flag, 11 men behind the ball, and a possession based approach are all available at the CPU’s disposal. Good luck going to Stamford Bridge and breaking down the bus parked in-front of keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Expanded Team Tactics - Offline career mode junkies (myself included) are delighted with the addition of “Unrivaled Intelligence.” With up to six different team sheets at your disposal, virtual managers can now alter their formation, tactics and player roles based on your next opponent. Give the youngsters a run out in the Capital One Cup with a preset lineup. Instruct your fullbacks to always overlap providing width to your attack. Want to employ a high pressure system with Atletico Madrid against your hated cross-town rivals Real Madrid? This year, you’re able to instruct striker Mario Mandzukic to press the opponents back line forcing Sergio Ramos and Pepe into mistakes as the big boss, Florentino Perez, cringes.

Ultimate Team Additions – The hugely popular and revolutionary Ultimate Team mode also features some key improvements for FIFA 15. A now instituted loan system allows users to try out star players before deciding if they fit into their plans. The newly added “Concept Squads” feature brings the ability to plan ahead using the entire player catalogue with an eye on future purchases while testing chemistry compatibilities to ensure that your squad gels. EA has also taken strides at reducing the flagrant cheating that has often plagued the mode. Gamers caught coin buying and promoting run the risk of having their Ultimate Club and FIFA points reset. Repeat offenders as well those engaging in coin sell and farming could see a permanent online ban for all FIFA games. Worried about how mercurial front-man Carlos Tevez will affect your team’s chemistry? Why not use the loan feature and bring him in for a spell. If he doesn’t work out you can send him and his shady agent on their way.

My original plan has always been to buy FIFA for two straight years and skip the following year. i bought FIFA 12 and 13 and made a promise not to buy 14, but with the Word Cup, i had to make an exception. Now, i'm still on that WC fever and have already pre-ordered the game and excited to get it.

Being a PS Plus member I enjoyed a "free" copy of PES 14, I am not a huge soccer fan, cant name more than 3 players ( I did D/L Paul Option file thought!) but I do enjoy the "beautiful game" in video game format. I have really enjoyed my time spent with PES14 and have become pretty average player Im sure compare dto most footy players...For those familiar with both games, is it another case of EA is prettier has more league licenses, real players etc...but PES is is more realistic and a better overall sim/game? Im looking for realism....

Depends on your skill level, but yeah, Pro can provide a challenge if you're somewhat new to FIFA. Looks like they brought back Beginner difficulty, which I don't remember seeing last year.

I'm trying to make the jump to Legendary this year, but I keep getting killed.

Not really a feature, but the thing I am looking forward to the most is the improved fouls called by the refs on the CPU and in general.

LOL. I'm a Chelsea fan so I've earned the right to take a jab at him. In all seriousness we'll always have the goal at the Camp Nou. I hope he does well at Milan though.

The implementation of individual instruction for each player on the pitch is a great addition. And something one really must use to get the most out of the game. My first impression when I tried out the demo, I was completely frustrated and thought my CPU teammates were brain-dead .... Then I discovered the individual instruction option in Team Management (and also implemented a team tactic for 'possession' futbol, from my own personal preference) and the game transformed! My teammates were cutting off passing lanes, giving me support on D, and players were making the right runs for through-ball attempts, etc .... And of course, the authentic EPL presentation, 'emotion' engine (btw - EA has done a phenomenal job with this emotion engine that we have seen here in FIFA and Madden. Fingers crossed for NBA LIVE - BUT I digress. LOL!), and I feel like the 'Pro' level is where its at in regards to players on the pitch performing to their ratings. The CPU is more aggressive, but of course, I feel that play build up could be improved & of course more 'Player ID' ... But overall, I'm super impressed with this iteration of FIFA (based on the demo). Definitely a first-day purchase for me!

its taken me 3 straight years to be able to play on legendary (goalies turned all the way to 100) but it makes the game so much more realistic and fun, i have ea access and i have started a career with crystal palace. my 6 hour trial has run out and i cant wait to pick up my pre ordered copy of FIFA 15. Been playing destiny non stop but come sept. 23rd its going to be all FIFA. this game is unreal ****ing brilliant.

I can't believe they still haven't removed the Ronaldinho chant when you play as ac milan. He hasn't played there since 2010.

I'd say so. FIFA's gameplay is good but I'd say PES 15's is great and looks like real football at many points. Definitely has more realism.

This game needs more camera angles! NBA 2K give a lot of options to us for example... I think I´m alone about this cause but if this game someday put in the gameplay some camera angles that we see in the replays, would be amazing.

I'm definitely getting FIFA 15 on day one but I wouldn't say I'm super excited about it, (maybe PES 2015 has something to do with that). Will be making the jump to world class level this year, (don't judge me, FIFA 14 next gen was my first ever soccer game). I held my own in the demo so hopefully the full version is no different.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the demo. While there are some things that PES does better, FIFA is a very, very good game, and obviously the licensing is a huge selling point, especially with the emphasis they've put on the BPL. I wish they would update some of the player models (David Silva, please!!!), but most of them look ok and some are actually really pretty good. I haven't seen the Pirlo model yet but he's been terrible the past few years.

To me the biggest differences this year are the improved AI and the apparent nerfing of the cheesy headers, which honestly has been a borderline deal breaker for me in recent iterations of the game. I've been playing the demo for 2 weeks and I've seen very few instances of guys magically getting their heads on a ball when they shouldn't. Believe it or not, I've actually scored more cheesy goals in the PES demo, which I'd never have expected.

I could be wrong but I thought they had custom camera angles in FIFA 14 so I'm assuming that feature would also be in 15. Could be wrong though, but I believe a custom option was definitely there at one point.

Yeah, I know ... but in my opinion the customization is not good... In x-box 360 and ps3 versions the broadcast camera 2, for example, can be better customized... in most of the camera angles we don´t see exactly where we are kicking the ball and that is better for the goallies.... for me this is the best angle and can only be found in San Siro stadium (bellow I put a Picture - this is a google image link from the angle )https://www.google.com.br/search?q=FIFA+15+ALL+CAMERA+ANGLES&tbm=isch&imgil=KaYW3ZNUD4mipM%253A%253BMHhycCxKRUgqCM%253Bh ttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fforum.ea.com%25252Fuk%2525 2Fposts%25252Flist%25252F15%25252F2784527.page&source=iu&pf=m&fir=KaYW3ZNUD4mipM%253A%252CMHhycCxKRUgqCM%252C_&usg=__fER1M-2Bk6kyCQkVDuu1DmvRkxY%3D&biw=1366&bih=673&ved=0CDsQyjc&ei=fVQgVObuHO7GsQSswYKICg#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=KaYW3ZNUD4mipM%253A%3BMHhycCxKRUgqCM%3Bhttp% 253A%252F%252Fimageshack.com%252Fa%252Fimg31%252F4 197%252Ft73o.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fforum.ea.com %252Fuk%252Fposts%252Flist%252F15%252F2784527.page %3B1352%3B763
