It Should Be NCAA Release Week...

Today should be d-day minus two towards NCAA/College Football 15’s launch.

We should be celebrating the first new-generation effort of collegiate football, with the expected beautiful graphics and enhancements we were expecting all along.

This week should be the kickoff to our sports gaming season, where nearly every AAA game is released over a four month period.

Silence.

Instead this week is a lot like walking into a collegiate stadium this time of year. Instead of hearing the roar of thousands it’s likely quiet and serene, with only the hum of a lawnmower and the songs of summer birds filling the air. It’s quiet, too darned quiet if you ask me.

NCAA Football will have a lot of things which will be easy to miss on video game consoles, and for one of the most popular sports in America, it will continue to be a crying shame each and every July we don’t have a game.

As I wrote on last month, the odds of seeing another college football game are actually quite high. The popularity of the sport mixed with the prior commercial successes of NCAA will make sure that someone will give it a shot, even if that someone isn’t EA Sports.

An NCAA Football game with the real players, with new-generation details, and better gameplay than ever will be quite a commercial success. With no fears of litigation in the future, EA won’t have a problem bringing people on board.

But still, for now, we are left with NCAA Football 14 as our dance partner.

While our dance partner is flawed, it is good enough to keep us satisfied for a couple of more seasons at least — but by then we’ll need something new.

Something with those beautiful graphics we’ll be coming to expect from sports games, something with the advanced animations and physics, something with the advanced presentation options we’ll be looking at.

But for now, early to mid July will sit without a game to call its own. For now, we’ll be left with no new excitement, no wait for new rosters, no reasons to complain about missing new alternate unis or new stadiums.

For now, we'll be left with 'maybe next year'.

It’s going to be a lonely and harsh week — but we’ll get through this one together.

OS Note: We are expecting updated rosters for NCAA 14 from our community soon, which will allow you to play with this year’s players for both Xbox 360 and PS3. In many ways, you will get a more authentic experience this way, and will most certainly release when those are available.

I recently bought Phil Steele's College Football magazine, like I do the beginning of every July. I usually thumb through conference by conference, beaming with excitement and anticipation. This year obviously, the fire just isn't there. I've barely read a few team reports so far. I know that will change once the season rolls around. For now, this really sucks man... Hopefully a new roster for '14-'15 will release shortly, maybe that will get me and us back in the swing of things...

I took my withdrawal, even further. Not only did I re-buy NCAA 14. I also, re-bought a used ps3, because I traded mine in, when I got the ps4.

Even though the game certainly has its shortcomings, I needed my college football fix. The lead up to the start of the season, just seems wrong without it.

NCAA Football release kicked off the football season for me every year. This really blows. Hopefully one day we get another game in the series.
I picked it up today. Mainly as the longer it goes I bet the game will raise in price.
Either way I always regretted getting rid of it so now I'm back to playing it

Getting a new game this year would've been nice, yeah - but modifying one of the best ever is a real challenge - and one I welcome.
I get what you are saying and would agree if the BCS was still around. But with the 4 team playoff in place, it just won't feel right playing a game that still uses the old model to determine a champion. Nothing to do with the game itself and how it plays.

It would have been cool if this all happened one year later and we got a NCAA with the 4 team playoff. Then we would be set.

This is a disgrace - those two scumbags who want to sue EA should be castrated. Do they have twitter accounts? I'm going to spam them with hate mail.

This is just depressing

Hopefully there'll be another NCAA game in the future.

I was just thinking about this. It is disappointing that there is no NCAA this year. I feel like NCAA '14 was probably the best of last gen's games, so it would have been decent momentum going forward. That said, usually the first iteration on the new generation isn't the best, so I can't imagine '15 would be a great game, but at least it would still be going.

Right now, the worst part is simply the unknown: we don't know if the game will ever come back. If I knew NCAA would be back for 2015 or even 2016, I could deal with not having the game at this time. I'll be extremely disappointed if the game is gone forever.

As of present day, I'm still not sure the game ever comes back. NCAA basketball games haven't been made for 5 years now and don't look to ever return. I'm very worried this was the kiss of death for all collegiate games.

This is a very sad year for football gaming........I could only imagine how beautiful and great ncaa would have been on next gen....I always had faith in that development team and you could tell they loved college football....and madden doesnt look that innovative or next gen so Im depressed!!

cant they release ncaa football on xbox live, and psn. even though they are from old gen. so that you can play it on next gen? regretting trading in my 360.

Happy to not have to try to tweak sliders for two months just to come to the conclusion that the game is broken beyond repair. Even if they had come out with a game this year, I wasn't buying it and I had every NCAA football game since Bill Walsh College Football. The franchise had become stale and the engine was broken.

I miss it. Not perfect but filled my days and nights while my wife took the kids on vacation, loved making UMass a powerhouse. Not that easy! FWIW.

Based on EA's recent history with first efforts on new platforms, I doubt we'd be celebrating the first 'next-gen' offerings all that much...I still want my money back for NCAA'09. They ripped us off so badly with that game, it's inexcusable.

I feel the same way exactly. None of EA's football games really ever advanced the ball (bad metaphor, sorry) all that much in my opinion in the 360/PS3 era. A whole lot of hype and lack of delivery is the summation of the last gen.

Ea should release NCAA football remastered for next gen lol I miss a little but I know once collage ball is in full effect the realization that the game isn't here is gonna be evident
