New NCAA Football 13 Dynasty Recruiting Features Detailed

In case you missed the dynasty webcast, here's a quick rundown of what was announced:

Breaking into the Top 10

Prospects used to have their whole Top 10 (and thus) their mind's basically made up before you even started recruiting. Now, they will have open spots and you'll be able to break in to them by recruiting them.

School's Names Matter

If you are an Alabama for instance, prospects will listen to you much moreso than if you are recruiting from Texas State. Important distinction for sure.

NCAA Football 13 Dynasty Pitch Information
Your new dynamic team ratings. You can now see how you compare w/other schools as well.

Roulette is Gone, Pitches Are Back and They're Dynamic

Ding-dong the witch is dead! No more recruiting roulette, aka the worst dynasty idea in history.

Each school has 14 pitches, and they can all change throughout dynasty mode. Here's a rundown of each.

Championship Contender: Updated each week based upon your poll rankings, your current recruiting class and talent level. If you are winning, championship contender will go up. If you are losing with horrible recruiting classes, it goes down.

Coach Prestige: If you are reaching your goals as a coach, your prestige rises. If you aren't it falls.

Coach Stability: Before, this was two completely separate ratings. Now, coach stability is determined by the number of years you have been at a school, years left on your contract, the current job security, and the number of times you have renewed a contract at your school.

Conference Stability: This used to never change…now? Conference ratings are dynamic! Your conference prestige will be determined by the BCS ranking of the top six schools in the conference. And if you like changing conferences up in custom conferences, your conferences prestige will change based upon the changes you make as well.

TV Exposure: Your TV exposure rating is determined by your performance in front of the cameras as much as your appearances. Basically, winning big nationally TV games boost your exposure ratings, losing them hurts it (as well as not appearing on TV at all).

Pro Potential: Your pro potential rating is evaluated by looking at the draft classes from the last four seasons and improving this means you need to sign highly rated players and have them play well on the field. The way Jordan describes this on the EA blog, you will have key choices on letting players go and improving this pitch rather than trying to talk them into staying. There's a real risk/reward there. And let's not forget there are now Mock Drafts showing where your players might go, and convincing your players to stay will depend on their standing in the mock draft.

Stadium Atmosphere:  This is driven by the toughest places to play each week ranking. The more you win at home, the more this rating improves.

Playing Style:  This is a completely new pitch that evaluates how you perform on the field. If you pass the ball a lot with a pocket passer, your playing style will reflect that to a pocket passing QB prospect. To get the players you want to run your offense, you have to play the style of football those prospects are looking for. You aren't DQ'ed from getting a scrambler if you really play with pocket passers, it's just that you'll have a tougher time signing them over a school that values scrambling QBs.

Program Tradition: Winning in the regular season does provide a boost, but it's the championship games that really boost a program's tradition. Playing in conference and national title games provide a big boost, but winning them is a huge key.

Playing Time:  Basically, if you have a bunch of guys on your team who are highly rated at WR and who are young, don't expect to go get another 5 star WR.

Proximity to Home: There's no real concrete data on how this is truly determined, but the only way to get an A+ is to have the prospect be from the same town as your school. I have a feeling this will determine a players willingness to transfer for being homesick as well (more on that in a bit).

Academic Prestige/Athletic Facilities/Campus Life: These may change, they may not. Really, you will likely be stuck with these for the most part.

Give a player a call, see what they have to say about what they're interested in.

Transfers

This year transfers will be greater in number than in previous seasons. Players can now transfer for a variety of reasons. A player might transfer if a coach reneges on promises, or if a player isn't getting enough playing time, or even because they are homesick. You can try to convince players transferring to stay with a series of promises based around their reasoning for leaving. Also, if you leave a school for another school, players can transfer to follow you (or other coaches).

Phone Calls

You will be able to select the topics of discussion with each phone call -- or you can let the prospect choose. While you'll instantly find out what's important to the recruit, what they like and what you have to offer may not line up and thus the phone call won't go as smoothly.

Honestly, this is the type of risk/reward that's been missing in recruiting for awhile.

Promises

They're all now available at the beginning regardless of your coach integrity rating.

Triple Threat Athletes

Guys who can pass, catch, and run. Basically you can recruit these guys to play a myriad of positions.

No more randomness, ahhhhh yes

Cool concept I didn't see mentioned is that athletes can follow their coach to a new school. I just wish you could recruit them to come with you, instead of a sort of random decision.

I really like the recruiting/scouting features very in depth. It looks like they really put alot into this part of the game.

I swore, I SWORE I would not get sucked into the hype machine this year. Oh well, pre-order money is set and ready to go.

I'm so weak.

This game has been pretty low on my radar, but I must admit that these recruiting additions sound promising. I hope a college basketball game comes out this year and similar recruiting features are added for that game.

I wonder if the triple threat athlete thing works for defense too ? .........

# 11 notoriouzwun @ 05/07/12 07:26 PM
This triple threat Athlete thing. Does this include OL and DL that can be interchangeable? Can play either way? Or DE's that could be hybrids. MLB that could be a SS. I guess what I am asking is would this translate to just more than a RB WR QB thing.

Typically, I'd say fo' shame....but I personally think this year might be a pretty good year -- sans huge bugs. Which may or may not happen. The thing is, I've always advocated going every other year on annual sports franchises. But still...I'm starting to be a believer in EA Football this year....maybe. MAYBE.

Between this and the new presentation features, the game is looking promising. However, I still need the gameplay to shine brighter than all of these features combined. My money is still firmly in my pocket, but I'm more willing to hear what they have to say. Let's just hope they deliver on all of these new features and they don't just become gimmicks.

Woohoo looks very promising...

highly doubt they take it out. And no, it doesn't ruin the notion of scouting cause it's not really their real overall.

Deal with it.

ive seen ALOT of screenshots that have recruits rated WAAAAY to high as far as OVR is concerned. one recruit was OVR 88!

This has the potential to be a great game I think I will enjoy it. I liked last years and there was nothing special about it.

Sounds good I'd like more details on how players and coaches can follow you I really line that idea. And hopefully now more transfers will happen.

New York Yankees
Chicago Bears
Chicago Bulls

The high overalls for recruits aren't bad depending on their star rating. We see true freshman impact players all the time...and probably rated even higher than 88
