Since 2005, fan-site NHL94.com has kept the 16-bit classic alive by adding new rosters, features and online play to EA Sports' legendary 1993 hockey game.

Roster Updates

A number of rosters are available in NHL94.com's download section, most of which attempt to mimic the 2011 - 12 NHL season. thadonnerparty has one of the better roster files.
 

Weight Bug Fix

Other available rosters correct glitches in NHL 94's programming code. The "weight bug" is an error in the Genesis version of NHL 94 that allows lighter players to hit more effectively than heavier players. smozoma found the error and fixed it himself.

NHL Old School Editor

Commonly called NOSE, this PC editor allows users to edit just about everything in NHL 94, from player names and ratings to team names and jersey colors.

Simply download, unzip and install NOSE, then load up a NHL 94 .BIN file to begin editing.

Online NHL 94 Leagues

Many active online leagues are looking for members, both for the Genesis and SNES versions of NHL 94. Some allow teams to build their roster via fantasy draft, while others use the default NHL 94 rosters or the updated rosters mentioned above.

There are even leagues using a 2 vs. 2 mod for NHL 94, which has teams of two human players facing off against each other ala Midway's arcade classic, NHL Open Ice.
