Your Decision: Where Would You Take MJ's Talents in 2K11?

NBA 2K11 Creating a Legend mode is a whole new ball game for basketball gamers both new and old. Being like MJ is something many of us have thought about in our backyards or at the playground.

Now that we will finally have the chance NBA 2K11 to control MJ's career from start to finish, where would you start Jordan’s career? In what city will His Airness take flight? Let’s look at the more interesting options and see how these current teams would fair with a young Mike in NBA 2K11.

"If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It": MJ on the Bulls

Six titles, five MVPs, 10-time scoring champion. After accomplishing those achievements and witnessing what life was like with another franchise in Washington, I’m not so sure Michael himself would want to change anything about where he began his career. I feel like most true MJ fans will stick with the default option that is Chicago. Nostalgia aside, the Bulls happen to have a very good roster that would compliment MJ’s playing style very well.

A very long perimeter trio of MJ, Rose and Deng would be a nightmare for opposing offenses while Boozer is capable of hitting mid-range jumpers like Horace Grant back in the day. Being one very good swing player away from being title contenders, I’m positive the Bulls would settle for the greatest ever to fill that void.

MJ in green? Jordan had some of his best games in Boston.

The Real #23: MJ on the Cavaliers

NBA 2K11 might prove to be a form of therapy for Cavs fans looking to recover from LeBron’s cold-hearted departure. Not only would they get to play with THE one who the "Chosen One" was supposed to become, but this also would present an opportunity to feel what it’s like on the winning side of a heart-wrenching buzzer-beater.

However, individual glory will be all a young Mike will bring to the current Cavaliers team. A lack of talent and athleticism around MJ will make Cleveland very similar to the Bulls during Michael’s rookie year (38-44 record).

Hindsight is 20/20: MJ on the Blazers

"What if the Blazers didn’t pass on Michael?" is a question that has been asked many times, and NBA 2K11 could provide the answer. However, I am not dying to find out. Since Portland passed on MJ because they already had Drexler, I won’t put MJ on the Blazers because they already have Brandon Roy -- same goes for Miami with Wade and Lakers with Kobe.

Both guys play the same spot on the floor, and Roy needs the ball in his hands to be effective, especially in the clutch -– we all know that won’t sit well with a young and ultra-competitive Michael.

NBA 2K11 team rating prediction: 82

Dropping Dimes and Double Nickels: MJ on the Knicks

Mike D’Antoni loves points, MJ loves scoring points, and despite their rivalry, Knicks fans love watching MJ score points. In this scenario, everybody wins -- MJ, the fans and the Knicks. A knockdown shooter in Danilo Gallinari, an explosive big, which MJ never got a chance to play with, in Amar’e Stoudemire and an offensive system that allows young Michael do exactly what he wants: ATTACK!

Picture a 6-foot-6 guard with Vince Carter-type athleticism (99 dunk rating), Kobe’s drive, Rajon Rondo’s hands and Dwyane Wade’s knack for the spectacular (95-plus scoring in traffic rating) all rolled into one player. Rookie Jordan is the definition of a video game player.

NBA 2K11 team rating prediction: 87

Those four choices are a couple I know a lot of people will try out when NBA 2K11 hit stores in October. Bottom line, if you grew up watching Michael Jordan but never really got the chance to play as him in a video game, then this is your shot -- shoot it. All that remains to be seen is where he goes. What team will YOU choose to use when Michael Jordan’s path to greatness begins?

Fixed link, sorry everyone.

I love that everybody is making fun of "The Decision", as they should be.

I'd put him on the Cavs if I was buying 2k11, but I'm not interested in giving the NBA any of my money this year. I'll wait until the lockout breaks the players and player movement gets back in the owners' control.

Two teams, Chicago and just to see how he'd have looked in a trailblazers uni.

He's gonna look sick in a Knicks jersey

Well at first I was thinking Detroit, then Chicago and now I'm warming up to the idea of having MJ replace LBJ in Cleveland.

Jordan Vs. Kobe every game. See who consistently plays the best the whole season. Lakers. Period. Unstoppable duo. That'll be my fantasy pick and do one with him on Chicago as well.

yeah I dont know that's about either....... any how, I think I will take this young MJ and start him out with.....the team he owns!!! How's that for irony. That team is ultra competitive and in need of a guy who can really score the ball for them. Capt. Jack would make a excellent 6th man. Or if you want to play small, go with crash at the 4, s. jack at the 3 and young MJ at the 2. I think that makes a little sense right. Other than that, I think the Bulls is the most obvious place to have him play especially with all the young talent they have.

I wonder if this is too late to add.... and I dont know if any one thought of this....but what about a jordan challenge that requires you to duplicate the success of the 1995-1996 season (72-10 regular season record, NBA champions). Im not asking for those teams to be present from that season but to take either the 1995-96 Bulls or perhaps any team in the game currently, and have the user try and duplicate this feat or if they can, better it. I like the idea of trying to do that. I've tried several times over the years to better 72 wins and the closest I have gotten is 68 wins with LA in 2K9 (no simulations either). 72 wins is really hard especially when you play on superstar level or higher. So I'm asking is this at all possible to add as a challenge? If not as a challenge, can it become trophy or recognition of some sort. I think the community would be able to really appreciate this task and challenge. Anyone who plays thru an entire 82 game season + playoffs knows it's tough to do especially without simulating. To me theres a sort of honor by playing thru every game of a season and dealing with whatever comes up. Let me know what you think.

Gusy, if you really want to enjoy this mode, you need to treat MJ like a rookie, who no one suspects will become the greatest ever. You can't enjoy it if you know what's gonna happen. So, better forget all you know...

What am I talking?!!? Who can do that!?

# 33 KeepItReal420 @ 08/12/10 07:38 PM
I will take JORDAN from the GOAT to higher levels. I'm taking his talents to LOS ANGELES....

The LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS!

The NBA will never evvvvvvver be the same AGAIN!

I wud put him on the lakers and put bryant at small forward. the greatest perimeter scoring tandem ever. If not i wud keep him on the bulls. rose to jordan wud destroy other teams.

# 35 cautionchri5 @ 08/12/10 07:44 PM
I like this idea but it would have been way better if they could have gotten other players from his time instead of playing with the players from this time. But I know its way too hard to get all those players to sign off on that.
Also does anyone care about my player mode for 2k11????

# 36 cautionchri5 @ 08/12/10 07:49 PM
Just to keep on topic. My picks would be. Cavz just buz they need it the most. But I'm going to save that one for my player mode if they have one this year really hope so.
My other choice would have to be my home town knicks. He also went there one year before the bull offerd all that money.

# 37 nccomicfan @ 08/12/10 08:00 PM
He will be a hybrid point/shooting guard bringing the ball up for the Bobcats

# 38 mobiuseinz @ 08/12/10 09:50 PM
Hmmm.... I would put him on the Bulls but with a twist... I would make the roster so that it's similar to the 84-85 Bulls, basically picking current players and fitting them in similar roles based on similar playing styles... basically the whole premise would be to make MJ go up against the Heat Trio, the Big 3 in Boston and LA and all the other great teams... just to show that MJ can overcome them =]

Hey everyone, I heard that IGN will be posting a hands on preview of everything Jordan related. There will also be a 2 minute momentous trailer that Ronnie at 2k sports said will be the best 2 minutes of gameplay we have ever seen. It will all be coming in the next 36 hours.

I like that idea - you put some thought into that I see. Who would you pick to fill the Pippen role thought? Always said there will be another Jordan before there's another Scottie
