Will a QB go #1 for the 5th year in a row?
Posted on January 25, 2013 at 02:12 PM.

When looking at the list of QB's drafted since 2003 it obvious that the best

QB's are being taken early instead of someone like Tom Brady dropping to the

6th round in 2000. However there are still some sleepers.

2003-

Carson Palmer (USC) - #1 overall pick

Byron Leftwich (Marshall) #7 overall pick

Kyle Boller (CAL) - #19 overall pick

Rex Grossman (Florida) - #22 overall pick

13 total QB's drafted.

2004 -

Eli Manning (MISS) - #1 overall pick

Phillip Rivers (N.C. State) #4 overall pick

Ben Roethlisberger (MIA-OH) - #11 overall pick

JP Losman (Tulane) - #22 overall

Matt Schaub (Virgina) - 3rd round #90 overall pick

17 total QB's drafted.

2005-

Alex Smith (Utah) - #1 overall pick

Aaron Rodgers (Cal) - #24 overall pick

Jason Campbell (Auburn) - #25 overall pick

Kyle Orton (Purdue) - 4th round #106 overall pick

Matt Cassell (USC) - 7th round #230 overall pick

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Harvard) - 7th round #250 overall pick

13 total QB's drafted.

2006 -

Vince Young (Texas) - #3 overall pick

Matt Leinart (USC) - #10 overall pick

Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt) - #11 overall pick

Tavaris Jackson (Alabama St.) - 2nd round #64 overall pick

11 total QB's drafted.

2007 -

JaMarcus Russell (LSU) - #1 overall pick

Brady Quinn (ND) - #22 overall pick

Kevin Kolb (HOU) - 2nd round #36 overall pick

Trent Edwards (Stanford) - 3rd round #92 overall pick

10 total QB's drafted.

2008 -

Matt Ryan (BC) - #3 overall pick

Joe Flacco (DEL) - #18 overall pick

Chad Henne (MICH) - 2nd round #57 overall pick

Matt Flynn (LSU) - 7th round #209 overall pick

13 total QB's drafted.

2009 -

Matt Stafford (Georgia) - #1 overall pick

Mark Sanchez (USC) - #5 overall pick

Josh Freeman (Kansas St) - #17 overall pick

11 total QB's drafted.

So it would seem that the NFL scouts have found starting talent in the 1st

round consistently minus Kyle Boller, and J.P. Losman, So if your worried

about your team reaching for a QB this year, don't be surprised if they pass on

a QB for a better overall player. Thanks for reading.
