No big deal to most, I'm sure, but I feel like I need to share what I consider to be a momentous accomplishment in my gaming history.

Today, I finished a season of a career mode in a game other than football for the first time since I began playing video games, well before such game modes even existed.

Now, I don't play every game. Were I to try that, I'd be even less successful in making it through the opening month of any season. I just don't have the time available to dedicate to such pursuits, as much as I might like to have.

After getting a few weeks into the season, I realized I enjoyed the game enough and had the right balance of challenge with success (considering I was using the Red Wings) that I could try to get through a season. Hence, I decided I would attempt to beat every team in the league during the season. Once I'd beaten a team, I'd sim any remaining match-ups with them.

For some reason, I couldn't manage to beat Calgary, so I saw a LOT of the Flames, who ended up finishing second in the west, though my squad were second in points.

Columbus, of all teams, finished in first, winning the President's Trophy.

Sitting at the fourth seed, the Wings are looking at a first-round match-up with Vancouver. Should be fun. As I've never gotten this far in a season, it'll actually be my first ever playoff series in an NHL game. Hope to get it done before NHL 11 comes out, because there will be NO simming here.

Also of note, the Flyers didn't qualify for the playoffs and the Blackhawks snagged the seventh seed VERY late in the season.
