I haven't played too much video games in a few weeks as my house got burgled and the 360 got snatched with the television and a handful of games.
The replacement sits in the living room, where it's been now for a few days just waiting to be connected and fired up.
The wife is out working on a project, leaving me home alone for my first potential gaming in a little while.
I can't believe I didn't just start playing a few hours ago when she left. Oh, how I've missed the games.
One of the sad bits, however, is that we'll never know whether I was in the process of making something out of the Detroit Lions (I'd already won more than zero games, thank you), or whether I was about to get fired by St. Francis (NY) in my flagging career with CH2K8 (best game ever?). I had even caved and gotten a cheap copy of MLB 2K8 and had gotten through a month of trying to make all those big-dollar players the Tigers grabbed into something other than a cellar dwellar.
In fact, there are several games and editions' worth of dynastys/legacies/careers that are lost forever into the hands of some thief. There's nothing about being burgled that doesn't suck, to be honest, but I really have an additional bit of anger stored away for these losses. I mean, I had used the CMU football momentum to turn them into a national player, a la Utah or Boise State. That took a lot of work for a guy who doesn't have the quick thumbs he had when he actally attended classes at Central Michigan and hung out in Herrig Hall mashing buttons in leading the virtual Red Wings to many a victory.
So, the rebirth of my gaming career on the 360 is about to begin. Where do I start? Do I go football, as it's probably the game I understand the best? How about baseball, since it's actually my favorite sport? Basketball provides lots of scoring quickly, giving the feeling of success. If I were to start with hockey, I could take out some anger with some vicious checks. And there's even soccer, which is the current sport for me in Seattle with the excitement and success of the Sounders FC and a game with Toronto in just over an hour to see whether the good play continues on the road.
So many choices.
And I'm glad to be saddled with such decisions, once again.
