This team starts out as a 2017 Reds rebuild, in 2017 the Reds started acquiring rookies with no service time and held back their own prospects.
So now the start of 2018 (being played in MLBTS 19) the Reds do not have a single player in the majors or minors that has a single day of service time. All are true rookies and every single stat is mine, like a whole RTTS team you might say.
I struggled with trying to keep realistic trade scenarios and not grabbing every big name rookie. Between 2017 and 2018 the Reds Rookie Team looks like this...
STARTING PITCHERS
Luis Cast
Mike Hauschild
Walker Buehler
Shohei Ohtani
Tyler Mahle
BULLPEN
Sal Ramano
Amir Garrett
Kevin Shackelford
Justin Hancock
Andrew Edwards
Tanner Scott
Zack Weiss
POSITION PLAYERS
C - Joe Hudson
C - Stuart Turner
1B - Brandon Dixon
2B - Alex Blandino
2B - Blake Trahan
SS - Zach Vincej
SS - Rosell Herrera
SS - Eric Stamets
3B - Seth Mejias-Brean
LF - Jesse Winker
LF - Michael O'Neill
CF - Nick Senzel
RF - Adam Engel
Most of these guys who were not originally a Reds rookie have some sort of tie in to the Reds organization, the Cincinnati area, a Ohio / Kentucky / Tennessee native. Except of course Ohtani, I just like him.
Most of these guys play at least one other position, if not multiple, and everyone is getting / will get equal playing time, NO SUPERSTARS here. Pitchers are getting fielding time, just as fielders are getting to pitch. The Ohtani Effect.
