BASEBALL IS BACK!!!

Admittedly, a little behind schedule. A new 2018 Franchise Season starting in February of 2019? Hey, it is baseball, who cares when it starts. Spring Training started yesterday, actually the day before that, but someone at San Diego Studios did not like the fact I already had a pitcher in leftfield (Japanese Sensation, Shohei Ohtani) was subbed in for Benintendi in the middle innings, then we brought RP and Power Hitting Michael Lorenzen to play first. SDD decided we did something illegal, so they cancelled the game and rescheduled it. Leaving management, player and ownership confused. This was in manage mode.

So the Reds and Indians did it again the next day. Pregame warm ups were friendly enough, but the gloves game off in the first inning as the Reds started beating the Indians with their bats (13 hits) and punching them out with their pitching (14 strikeouts). The final score (6 -1) made it seem closer than it actually was as Cleveland only amassed 3 hits, one being a solo homer by Tyler Naquin when Amir Garrett hung a slider over the plate in the fifth. But the Reds already had 5 runs, 3 runs off Cleveland's starter Corey Kluber, and got one back in the seventh.

For the Reds, Castillo got the start, going 3.0 innings with 1 hit and getting the W. Standouts at the plate were Jesse Winker going 3 of 4 with an RBI, two of his hits were doubles. But newly acquired 3B Travis Shaw (in a trade from Milwauke for Eugenio Suarez) went 2 for 3, both hits being the homerun variety, driving in 3 runs by himself. Shaw is a Ohio born native from Washington Court House, OH just up the road (I-71) from Cincinnati. His father, Jeff Shaw, was a pitcher for the Reds for from 1996 to 1998 before a trade to the Dodger for RP Dennys Reyes (a favorite of current ownership) and 1B Paul Konerko, yes that Paul Konerko, who played in 26 games for the Reds before being traded to the White Sox for Mike Cameron. Wow!

New manager Aaron Boone had this to say in the post-game interview, " we looked good out there today". Nice, keep up the great work Aaron.

The Reds will play the Rockies tomorrow, DeSclafani will take the mount for the Reds.

In rumor news, supposedly the Reds are in talks with the Texans, lips are tight, but it may be a Rangers minor league outfielder that the Reds are interested in, any gueses?

Be back tomorrow with updates and Good night all.
