I am overall happy with madden 10 but the rave reviews some websites have given it are just insane to me. yes this game is better than madden 09 no question but for me some of the basic fundamentals of football are clearly not followed which in my eyes can not justify any 8s or 9s. some of the small issues can be ignored or adjusted with sliders. but some flaws in the game arent even football its just common sense. if my guy is tackling someone and pushes them down their is no way as the player is falling back they can find the leverage to just push forward. But last night playing online i saw something even worse. my team is on defense its a long yardage situation so i only rush three. of course there isnt much pressure on the qb so he has plenty of time to throw. but as the receivers finish their routes my pass rushers just stop rushing. granted they probaly wouldnt have gotten to him but there is no logical reason they shouldnt put the effort into making him throw the ball. That is simply unacceptable. i dont know if that happens often but u could cleary see the defenders were 4 or 5 yards away from any lineman. i have never seen that in any game ive ever played and i should have never seen that. no way all 3 of my rushers one of them an all pro right end julius peppers would just give up like that. for those of you not gettin any sacks i suggest looking at some replays to see if your players are even trying. If this can be fixed as i believe its just an ai issue then madden gets a whole lot better. but this should never happen and i hope i never see it again.

I personally don't understand how some games can get 8's or 9's either. I get personal preference comes into account but that should never be the case with a review. It should be unbiased and take a realistic perspective on what the game does right and what it does wrong. There are plenty of times I'll read a review of a game I enjoyed yet I'd feel it got too high of a rating. I can't help but think hype has a huge affect on some reviews, they look at the game they are covering and suddenly are looking at only the pros or making what's done right seem like it's amazing when it could be one of the most basic things to do.

This is why I never listen to reviews, even when it comes to OS reviews, which are the only ones I ever read and take seriously (now that Shawn Elliott doesn't write reviews anymore) I still don't make a final decision until I play the game for myself.
