Should we have to mess with the sliders so much?
Posted on August 19, 2009 at 04:06 AM.
I like madden 10 dont get me wrong. There are somethings it does great and some other things (pass rush) not so much. i have been on the forums and seen plenty of posts for sliders that make in their opinion make the game better. My question for everyone is should we really have to tinker with the sliders so much just to get realistic games? i thought the goal of the madden dev was to make a sim football game. im not sayin take the sliders out because they should be there for minor tweaks here and there. But i think its terrible that people have to tweak the game like they work at ea just to get some decent play. the way the cpu can just sit back and relax behind its super human oline is terrible. not sayin there should be a sack or lame duck pass every play but if i put the cpu pass blocking to 0 and my pass rush to 100 there should be no way in hell that the cpu can even come close to relaxing for 7 to 8 seconds in the pocket. Just some food for thought

I think I like the amount of control given with the sliders. People play Madden differently depending on how much they get into the game, and when given this amount of control they can change it to their liking. This allows for the game to appeal to a larger variety of people. Although I do understand what you're saying. Maybe the solution would be better preset sliders so that the game adapts better for certain types of gamers.

that's the price we have to pay. Of the millions that play the game we are the minority that want it to play like football.

"We are the minority that want it to play like football."

I actually believe the majority of us want the game to play like football. The problem is, we ALL have a different definition of what 'play like football' means. If EA built the perfect football game, in their opinion that is, each and everyone of us would find something that doesn't feel like 'football' to us. It could be something as simple as too many penalties, or the AI's offense shouldn't have done this or that. That's why there are sliders. Same reason there are hundreds of varieties of beer, cars, music, etc.

People are different, even when they are agreeing on wanting a video game to, "play like football".
