I will be buying both games either way because I do it every year. I am buying into the hype because I truely think they will step up their game this year. It will be a great basketball gaming year this year for hoops fans. I can't wait until October.

Like that reeeeally means something. No doubt, I've bought 2k every year since it's came out...and for the xbox, it was the only game I played besides 2k football for years straight. lol My thing is, EA does suck. But Madden 2010 looks good. I'm buying Madden for the first time this year since Madden '99. 2k9, horrible out of the gate. I have it on PC and had to do crazy mods to get decent gameplay and graphics. Played Live on 360...was nice but not there yet...players still glide. I still think 2k10 will be better, but I dont know until I see what live will bring.

2k has always been the better sim i play 8 min quarters on the ps3 and i got realistic scores. i have played live as well and it has a more arcade feel to me. the players glide and i blow everyone out every game like 120-50. in 2k you may blowout someone one game then get owned the next day. so im going with 2k as they have delivered the better product for years and i never buy into ea's hype cause its always a bunch of crap. as long as 2k is making basketball games and they are getting better each year they have me as a every year customer.

Live has said the past few years that they're going to focus on the game of basketball, but little progress has been made. In fact, 2K can seize this opportunity by adding features. If Live is going to go the whole development cycle to make crisp passes and boxing out, 2K is already set in that regard. Plus, Live will succumb to new features (probably haphazardly thrown together) because no one wants to pick up the box and read on the back "New gameplay. It doesn't suck as bad as it used to."

The 2K series has been all about authenticity in both their NBA and (gone but not forgotten) College Hoops. 2K has always been more polished, realistic and just years ahead of EA in almost every aspect.
Live is what I call a arcade-sim where highlights take the place of authentic gameplay.
