FIFA 17 vs PES 17 - make a choice
Posted on September 10, 2016 at 02:00 AM.
Initially, I was impressed with what I was reading about regarding FIFA 17 and planned to buy it over PES 17. Not because I thought that PES 17 wouldn't be great but rather because I think PES 16 is one of the greatest sports games ever (including the soundtrack).

However, the more I read about both games, the more I began to remember that I have enjoyed PES for the last two years (15 and 16) whereas I lost interest in FIFA very quickly over the last two years despite FIFA having my three favorite leagues (Premier, Bundesliga, MLS). Each year, I traded FIFA in and focused on PES.

I'm very excited about the upgrade to edit data in PES because it seems like I will finally be able to have a true Premier League. I can only dream about having Bundesliga and MLS. The only reason I even consider FIFA is because they have those leagues.

For me,the biggest advantages PES has over FIFA is gameplay, graphics and the ability to play Champions League, Europa and Euro. FIFA's strength is having Premier, Bundesliga and MLS.

I'd like to know people plan to buy both games or buy only one and the reason why.

I'm going PES for PS4 this year with the sharing edit data available. I've previously gone PC version in the past for the mods but don't see it necessary this season. I like Fifa's career mode and presentation more, along with online but gameplay always feels more natural on PES for me.

I preferred FIFA last year because PES was a goal fest, plain and simple. This year though, PES has fixed the keepers, tightened up the marking and, most surprisingly, they've managed to pretty much fix the referees as well. I'm actually having trouble scoring goals now and it's great, no more 10 minute games! I'm a little concerned about the CPU's ability to attack, but I'm hoping that some of the tactical updates from the option file makers will improve things in that area, for the appropriate teams at least.

I'm still not ruling out buying FIFA as well, but honestly some of the videos I've seen have been underwhelming. Lots of track meet style goals 1v1 against the keeper. Minimal build up play, zero variety in play style from the few CPU opponents I've seen. The demo needs to wow me, I'll leave it at that.
