2K Sports gets it when it comes to presentation
Posted on January 5, 2011 at 12:23 PM.
How is it they just get it right? The presentation of NBA2k is so real and exciting. NFL2K had the same feeling about it. It was so much more exciting then a Madden game. I haven't picked up NBA2k in years, I'm a soccer/football/hockey guy.

But all the reviews said best game of the decade and they weren't lying. Even my 9 year old daughter is addicted to the my player mode. She said "Dad, its like we are playing in the game".

She loves soccer and FIFA 11 as well, but she said NBA 2k11 just felt more fun...

I think she is right.

What is it at EA Sports that prevents them from getting the presentation right? The gameplay is good on the systems, but there is something missing I just can't put my finger on.

That is exactly what I'm getting at. Also during the game, it just feels like you are there and are a part of it.

I also like the my player mode much more then the be a pro mode, or superstar mode etc.. of the other games. The only other one I liked that much was the "Show". But EA just gets that stuff all wrong.

2K/Visual Concepts need to make a boxing game. I hated that 2k used Venom games for Prizefighter.

IMO: If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Madden keeps selling...despite the complaints, that's the most prime example I can find of EA just doing what they've always done.

2K just has "it" when it comes to sports gaming. I agree with you 100%.

2K have passion. That's all I can think. EA's games are created in the boardroom. EA often get big names doing the commentary but never seem able to create a system that makes the most use of them.

@ dazraz agreed can you imagne what 2k could do with the voice talents of Gus Johnson for the NFL and College BB. The one thing that EA does that makes me scratch my head is the fact that they can secure the rights to use CBS presentation on NCAA Basketball 10 and implement it with ESPN but not implement the CBS presentation into the college football game, or for any other sports title for matter.

Between Signature Highlights, Game Reel, Pressbook, and gametrack,NBA2k11 is hands down the best sports post game EVER!Now if they would only let you save all those like The Show does that would be Perfect..as is you can only save individual highlights in gametrack

For as good as it is, there are no player Introductions. Take a page out of Live 04 and implement the feature! Sure, the overall presentation is not bad,but could be much much better.
My fave has always been 2k. Pre game, halftime, postgame, and a weekly report. Chris Berman did it best

Reason that there isnt any presentation change at EA is becuase of cost. FOr EA, Its do you spend on development for new ingame features or on presentation.
EA took the risk with college basketball by implementing the CBS and ESPN trademarks, but spent very little on game development. Last years NCAA game was an NBA import. They obviously spent the NCAA basketball budget on aquiring the CBS and ESPN rights, which left very little for game development.
They obviously didnt turn a profit on this calculated risk, so the game was eventually cancelled for this year.

2k sports gets it right when it comes to game features and presentation, but they also cut corners, with online features, and delayed patches etc. They probably have smaller SQA staff testing multiple titles.
