If anything, last year was the year for Phil Jackson to get his 10th NBA championship and surpass old red and be atop the coaching mountain. The story line was great. His superstar Kobe Bryant finally won his long awaited MVP Award and his Lakers team was undeniably the top seed in the west. The 7 foot spaniard Paul Gasol was added during a mid-season trade, which only made winning an NBA title that much easier. LA rolled through the playoffs and ended up meeting the tough defensive minded Boston Celtics. Red's team. Boston vs LA. The rivalry renewed. The story lines were abundant and this was one of the most anticipated finals match ups in years. The Celtics proved too much for the finess of the Lakers and that was that.

The Zen master has a more mature team this year and it looks as if this year will be the year for Phil to grab his 10th NBA ring. But until then, that right pinky finger has to feel so cold.
