ORLANDO, Fla. (September 15, 2012)- FIU won it's 3rd straight game this weekend 34-27 over UCF in hostile territory. The Golden Panthers used 21 straight points in the middle of the game to pull away from UCF. The Golden Knights made it interesting late, scoring 14 straight points of their own late in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Panthers were able to hang on and secure the victory.

Leading FIU today, Quarterback Jake Medlock gave a Heisman worthy performance throwing for 296 yards, 3 TDs and a outstanding 88% completion percentage. Kedrick Rhodes was no slouch either, adding 164 yards on 34 carries with 2 rushing TDs. All in all, the Golden Panthers racked up 504 yards of total offense to UCF's 290. The perfect red zone percentage certainly didn't hurt either.

"The offense was just rolling today", said OC Phoenix Young. "Jake responded so well to all the controversy that was unjustly heaped on him after my comments last week. The simple matter was, he needed to step his game up today and he did exactly that. My comments last week were blown way out of proportion and Jake realized that, but he also knew that I was right and he needed to be smarter about the decisions he was making with the football. Jake was awesome, plain and simple." When asked about the overall improvement of the offense, Young stated, "Everything was a lot better today, we were 70% on 3rd downs, we were perfect in the red zone and we got over 200 yards rushing. I can't complain about any of that. Overall, an amazing effort against a great team."

Young was asked for his thoughts about the big match up next week with Louisville. "Obviously they are a great team," stated Young, "They have a tremendous QB over there with Teddy Bridgewater and a extremely solid defense. It's going to be a tough game, but I know if we stick to the game plan, we will do fine."

FIU comes home next week to battle Louisville and looks to extend it's winning streak to 4.
