The LA Lakers have cleared out their bench to have a much younger roster. Here are the post-season transactions.
Trades
Lakers trade: Ben Wallace, ’12 1st Round, ’11 2nd round
Nets trade: Damion Jones, ’11 1st round pick
Lakers trade: Odom, Blake
Grizzlies trade: Hasheem Thabeet (bench warming Center entering 3d year), ’11 1st round Pick
Lakers trade: Mike Bibby, ’11 1st round pick
Hornets Trade: Jarrett Jack (backup PG who can chip in a few pts and some assists), ’12 2nd round pick
Lakers trade : ‘11 1st round pick
Bulls trade:: ’11 1st round, ’12 2nd round—to move back a few spaces in the draft
Lakers trade Nando D’angelo
T’wolves trade ’11 1st round pick, ’11 2nd round pick, ’12 1st round pick
Lakers trade: ’11 2nd round, ’11 2nd round, ’12 2nd round
Rockets trade ’12 1st round
Had enough draft picks – wanted to package up 2nd round picks for a stronger 1st round pick next year
Free Agents Signed:
Nazr Muhammed- 1 year (veteran center to come off bench)
Kenyon Martin- 1 year (veteran PF to come off the bench)
Grant Hill- 1 year (former Rookie of the year & 6 time All-star looking to play a support role backing up Artest)
Sent to D-league
PF Derrick Caracter (67)-- I want to see if he can develop into a complement for Joakim Noah. I refused a number of trades for him. His defense is workable but his big man offense skills need work.
C Hasheem Thabeet (62)
I hope that the chemistry will be better with this team, and that the players will "know their roles" and not complain and moan about playing time. SF Matt Barnes and SG Keith Bogans refused to re-sign with us. I was saddened by Blake as I wanted him to be my consistent backup SF. He was nowhere close to replacing Artest so I am sure he wanted more PT. He signed with Golden State so I'll be following him from a distance.
I'm trying to think beyond Kobe and Gasol. I see Noah and Last year's MVP Monta Ellis as forming the future core. Time will tell how the young talent develops.
I'll send an email with depth charts and profiles of the rookies.
