When someone says they want a new game they have a wide selection to choose from, but when someone says they want a new NFL game...Madden is the only choice. So no it's not like EA is competing with other games. Just look at NBA Live and NBA 2k. When comparing those games people don't try and compare Live to Gears of War or Halo. They compare it to 2k!!! Same thing with NHL and NHL2k. People aren't saying NHL2k is inferior because it isn't as good as GTAIV, it's inferior because NHL09 is 100x better.

the whole point is, EA has forgotten the past.. past failures! they keep regurgitating the same BS with new gimmicks for the "****** gamer". 2k5 was football in videogame form. Madden was crap. and it got worse and worse on the next (current) gen consoles. For example.. it took years for EA to realize (or give a crap about) the abomination called Triple Play Baseball for the PS 1 and PS 2. each year, their focus moved from their " if its in the game.." label, to if its in the game, its not in our videogames! It was a feeble attempt to cater to the ****** gamer, more than the HARDCORE gamer. They realized the error of their ways, or the loss of revenue, take your pick and revamped TPB to the much beloved MVP Baseball 05, but because of their end run with the nfl, 2k did one with MLB, so that amazing game was no more.

Its a damn shame that it takes over 5 FRIGGIN YEARS to even match 2k5 effort. And Trey.. you ask folks to stop whining and help make madden better? what the freak has the online community been trying to do for the last several years??!?!? man, unlike some, i just do not support crap, thats why i havent bought madden since the 06 fiasco! if you had your choice between a plain ol chuck steak and a fine aged angus steak.. for less money on top of that.. which one would you prefer?

To the person who said some stupidity about asking why people back 2K5 or what have u, I read the blogs and what people say about 2K5 then in the same sentence, hate on Madden and/or EA. Usually it's hate on both. You don't know what I have read and continue to read thus why I have spoken the way I have. Those who keep on keeping on with the 2K5 all have the same defensive reactions. It's not enough that Ian has said that NOW that HE is the lead dev of Madden, he has been studying 2K5 like crazy hence Madden 10 looks the way it looks now IN JUST ONE YEAR!! They can't do it all in just one year. Now, didn't I say that EA is well aware of 2K5? Nobody read that part and that's why it's so ridiculous that people keep pushing the 2K5 train when it stalled years ago. Ian doesn't have multiple years to dev and come out with one Madden. He is expanding on what's been done and he did a hell of a job in his first year as lead dev yet people wanna complain instead of giving him props for the effort. Whatever EA was doing before is no longer happening now, almost across the boards in all their sports game. NCAA 10 may not have the presentation but I think the game is extremely fun. Know why I think that? Cuz I'm not looking for every little not so perfect thing to nail EA with.

Terrell, what was the last thing u said in the last post?? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN TIL AT LEAST 2013 yet u are crying about having the option of two different NFL licensed games. U don't even get it. U don't even see yourself. U and others think by whining about it, constantly, you're going to make this come to fruition BEFORE 2013. Don't you all get what babies and toddlers do to try to get what they want? They cry, they whine, they complain, they throw tantrums to try to get what they want because they THINK whether subconsciously and/or consciously they will get what they want when they want it, which is usually that very moment. Do u get that point? im am so tired of the 2k fan boys!! the only thing 2k had was great presentation not gameplay!! madden was detailed on the field tho. thats y hardcore football fans loved it, it's about scoring TD's not looking @ an extended half-time show, which was great but dont matter more than gameplay.

I don't completely disagree with you. However despite the fact that GTA IV isn't a sports game it does still compete in the long run with all other video games. I play a ton of different games, varying from sports to shooters, to strategy games from time to time, but if one of those games aren't fun, then I won't play or buy it; therefore it loses money to another game that i'm more likely to spend money on. Its like I have read all kinds of things on NCAA Football this year where as I would have usually bought it, I've decided to go with another game because I have a limited amount of resources including money and time to spend. I agree that the too NBA games closest competition is each other, but its not their only competition.

Madden 10 is not a 2k5 killer in my opinion. I think Madden 10 still needs some tweaking in the gameplay dept to do that. Madden has made great strides and should be fun to play this year. I gave up on it early last year and went back to 2k5 and 2k8 just because it played a better game of football.

Madden 10 looks promising . Will it be 2k5 killler????? That shouldn't even be ask anymore. 2k5 was a great game for its time. The animations the graphics, the gameplay, the presentation was just great. Sure it had its naggy flaws, but good overpowered the bad. Now here we are in year 2009 and we are still comparing the latest Madden on the current more powerful console to a game thats was made on a last gen console and its just sad. But i dont blame the gamers...I blame EA. They knew what they were doing when they accepted the deal from the NFL. They knew no matter what they put out people will buy because its Madden and its the only show in town. So year after year they got lax and just kept putting out whatever because there was no comp and we kept buying it because we need that nfl fix.

Now back to this years game...the devs "seem" to have got the memo because they said that they were tired of being in the shadows of 2k5 and people always comparing the two games still. So they "said" they went back and studied the heck out of 2k5. Only time will tell if all that studing paid off but it does "appear" that they have finally got off their hides.....hmmmm maybe more like they are starting to sit up straight because they still not using ESPN.Overall im seeing progress.....but for EA sake i hope its not to late because the deal is almost up and i doubt the NFL will extend it and one could only wonder what visual concept has going on behind closed doors.

The first time i played 2k5 i was in denial because I was a Madden fanboy, but after the 3rd game I couldn't deny that the presentation and gameplay was so much better than Madden. I'll be glad when the EA exclusive licence is up so we can get better games when there is competition
