Scanning the blogs, it has become clear that alot of different viewpoints exist concerning EA's latest Madden but I haven't quite seen mine even though I know a few how do share it in some degree or another.
First let me clarify...I am not anti or pro EA. I have played Madden games in the past and enjoyed them greatly. I do not pine for the return of an old favorite either. So my choice is not one born of hatred but of logic.
I don't plan on buying Madden this year (and maybe not next year) because it really doesn't seem that different from the last Madden.
Sure it's updated some graphic bells and whistles, updated the roosters and added some cutscreens which is cool for those that enjoy that. A buddy of mine loves the thing and I watched him play a half and it did look very shiny and all so I was happy for him.
But to me the nature of putting the game out every year seems to have taken a toll on the degree the game advances. It's clear the developers care about the product and put massive amounts of time into it but a year turn around limits them greatly. Large portions and features go untouched from year to year. Product testing doesn't catch all the twitches and bugs. It's a strange business model to follow but it makes them money by catering to the majority of their buyers.
So I'm going to resist my rampant urge to be a completist and collect this years roster and hold off buying Madden 10. I'm going to wait until the game they have released is different enough from my Madden 09 to make sense to me...to buy and play.

I'd say this game plays almost like an entirely different game than Madden 09. I really don't care if you buy it or not but you might want to check it out at your buddies is all.

Rent it, Im a 2k lover player but have gotten madden every year just as a birthday gift (my b-day is aug 13) but this year plays quiet different from 09 to me. I say rent it and try it because madden in the past has only held my interest in the past for maybe 2 weeks and i feel i have no signs of putting this dont just yet.

UPDATE:
My boys X-Box crashed for the fith time so he scrapped in favor of a PS3.
As a result he gave me his Madden. It's pretty much what I figured it'd be..glad I didn't pay for it but still fun to play.
