Titans Get Much Needed Win on Monday Night Football in Jacksonville Stuck

The Tennessee Titans have defeated their Division Rival Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football in an important early season Division Game for both teams. The Titans came into this game in a must win situation if they are to have any chances of a solid season and think about the playoffs. Having gone 1-4 in their first 5 games they had to win this one. The Jaguars were in this game as the surprise early season division leaders at 4-1. With the victory the Titans improve to 2-4 and the Jags are now at 4-2. The game was played in wet and muddy conditions in Jacksonville under the Monday Night Lights.

Jacksonville would strike first in the game on the arm of David Garrard as he completed a 27 yard TD pass to Tight End Mercedes Lewis. Vince Young brought the Titans back down the field with a long drive of their own, and then added a 2nd score on a great pass to Nate Washington. The game was definitely Vince Youngs most solid performance of the year for Tennessee. He helped convert many critical 3rd downs in the game and the Titans had their best 3rd down showing of the year as well as won the time of possession battle.

The Jaguars would not go easy though, returning a fumble for a TD and adding a late game TD to tie things up with just a little time left on the clock. However, the Titans would not be denied and with 1:11 remaining Rob Bironas would convert the winning field goal and the Titans got out of Jacksonville with the win.
