Los Angeles, CA- Gustav Nyquist the 2nd yr player who finished 3rd in scoring on the team scored the overtime game winner with a wicked backhand shot that beat Quick high to his glove side.

Detroit had a 2-0 lead after the 1st period. But LA stormed back to tie the game at 2 by the end of the 2nd period. Both team traded chances in the 3rd but the goalies stood tall in net for both teams.

In overtime Franzen skated into the zone sent a pass to Datsyuk who one-timed a pass over to Nyquist. Nyquist got Quick to commit earlier and roofed a backhand shot to win the game.

Detroit, MI- The Kings responded after their lack of offense in game 1 with 3 goals from their big guns (Richards, Gagne, Brown). Quick followed the Wings Jimmy Howard's shutout in game 1 with a shutout of his own in game 2.
Quote:
Both goalies have been outstanding so far. 2 games and a shutout each by both goalies. The defense and goalies have taken over the series so far
-Coach Babcock
The teams will now head out west for games 3 and 4 in Los Angeles

Injury Update: Jakub Kindl left the game and didnt return. The team announced he will miss the next 4 weeks with a upper body injury. Johan Franzen returned to the lineup for game 2. Teemu Pulkkinen remains with the team while Justin Abdelkader was a healthy scratch. Lineup should remain the same for game 3.[/center]
