The Aces had an overall disappointing week going 2-2. They lost on the first night of both their back to backs. Memphis and Jeff Hill took it to the Aces beating them 124-110. The next night the Aces showed a little grit by bouncing back to beat the Suns 126-110. There were rumors of the team out on the town after that win. Which led to some second guessing when the Aces laid an egg on Friday night at home against the Rockets losing 114-108. Harmon in particular just seemed out of sorts fouling out with 10mins to go in the game. The coach was asked about the purported partying the night before, but he dismissed it and said just wait until tomorrow's game.
This reporter was a little skeptical after the showing Friday and the rumors of nights out on the town, that the Aces would put up a fight against the Warriors. However, I was happily proven wrong.
The Aces jumped out on the Warriors from the start and built a nice cushion. Then Cameron took over in the second bring the Warriors back to even. The third quarter was back and forth, with all the stars showing their talents. In the fourth Bethea and Harmon just took over and built a ten point lead with 2 minutes to go. Then down the stretch Jeffries hit some big free throws and the Aces pulled away to win 112-98.
Harmon had a season high with 42pts/4rebs. Bethea chipped in 34/2/2. Even Jeffries added some points this game going 22pts and 8assts. Martin added 10pts and 14 rebs. But then the weakness in the bench showed up again. The only other player to score was Eze with 4 points.
This led again to the questions of could the starters keep up this pace all year?
Next week the Aces get the Spurs on the road, with the Pistons and Nets at home. It will be interesting to see if the Aces can take the Warrior win and build on it, or keep up their uneven play.
If the first week of the season is any indication this team is going to be a blast to watch. The Aces went 2-1, beating the Clippers at home 140-120, and the Lakers on the road 100-95. Before losing to the Clippers in the rematch at their house 113-112 on a last second Ray Ray shot.
Bethea has kept up his hot hand averaging 35ppg, and Harmon is just chugging along with 26ppg/13rpg.
If there is any weakness shown by this team so far it is the bench. Right now they are getting nothing off the bench. The starters are playing the majority of the minutes and it seems like the coach does his best to keep one of Bethea/Harmon on the floor at all times. But there is just no offensive punch off the bench for this team. And that could wear over the course of the season.
The Aces have four games this next week with two back to back nights. First off is the Jeff Hill led Grizzlies, followed the next night by the struggling Phoenix Suns. On Friday night the Rockets come to town. Then on Saturday it is a showdown in the desert with the Warriors. It gives the Aces their first chance at washing the taste of their playoff disappointment out of their mouths. That should be a fun night!

The Aces opened their 2015 against the LA Clippers and the duo of Donovan Robinson and Ray Ray Francis. The city had been a buzz all week in anticipation for this opening night. There have also been rumors that some players have been seen out on the town frequenting several casinos late into the night as opening night approached. At least for opening night those distractions didn't seem to distract the players on the court.
The Aces absolutely blasted the Clippers from the get go. They jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the fans could even catch their breath from the opening number by Jennifer Lopez, and never let up. The final was 140-120. Bethea and Harmon were out to prove that they meant business even in the land of fun.
Bethea poured in 42 points/10 rebounds/4 assists. Harmon added 28/10/6. Bush came out of nowhere to go 6-6 from three point land and chipped in 22/6. Jeffries was handing out dimes left and right and went for 14/4/12. With all the offense, the Aces didn't play much defense. But it didn't matter on this night.
If this was any indication of what was to come this year, Vegas had a new blockbuster show in town and it was going to be a fun ride all year long.

The Las Vegas Aces held their first official press conference today. They revealed their new uniforms and court layout. They are going with a Casino theme of Black and Red with a White trim.
Reaction to the color scheme and uniforms has been mixed, this reporter included. Management did say that there could be changes even as the year goes along depending on feedback from the fans. "We are looking to provide an overall experience like everything else in Las Vegas. So if the fans aren't happy with the uniforms we will make changes. Our brand is Vegas. "
As for the team staff, ownership has stated no changes will happen this year. "We are going to roll the dice with what we have this year. If they perform then we'll evaluate at the end of the year."
The fans are excited as they are getting a roster that is loaded at the top with talent. Two of the more exciting players in the league who are in their prime, Jameel Bethea and Ahmed Harmon, are signed long term. And they are hungry to make amends for their embarrassment at the hands of the Warriors in last years playoffs.
The players were asked how they felt about the sudden move of the team to Vegas.
Bethea, "Honestly man, All I have on my mind is getting better and taking it all the way this year. I don't like the way we went out. With Harmon coming back we have to avenge last year's disappointment. Yeah we had a good regular season, but that don't mean sh%^ when it comes playoff time. This year we have to play all the way through and never let up. And I feel with as close knit as this team is we shouldn't have an issue. But as far as the new city and fans, bring em on. I mean it is Vegas Baby!!"
Harmon, "I was told before I signed of the move, so it wasn't as big a shock to me. In fact it was one of the reasons I was willing to take a little less money. Well that and this team is so close that I just couldn't really see playing anywhere else. We are all like brothers. Even the no dancing fool Bush. But when it comes to Vegas, I feel like we are going to take this town by storm. They won't have seen anything like it since the Rat Pack!"

In a shocking move today the former Sacramento Kings are moving to Las Vegas and becoming the Las Vegas Aces for the 2015-16 NBA season. Donald Trump took a break from his presidential bid and purchased full control of the Kings. He immediately put the paperwork in and made the deals behind the scenes happen to move and rename the Kings, along with buying the naming rights from the defunct ABA team. The NBA has been making overtures and looking at putting a team there for a couple of years. And now Trump has made it happen. Rumor is he agreed to pay each owner an unknown amount for their support in allowing the move. Now the question becomes can an NBA team make it in Vegas. The question of gambling and fixing games always comes up when talking about the NBA and Vegas. However, the feeling around the league is that with all of the media outlets nowadays, it would be impossible for anyone to even try. Time will tell.
For now, Vegas gets a championship caliber team who should be a contender for years to come. And Sacramento gets nothing but a slap in the face.
