This year wasn't a good one record wise, 26-56, as we knew it probably wouldn't be. It was a year to evaluate the talent we did have and make preparations for the off-season to come. We did have to preach patience to the fans, and I feel they understood we now had direction and plans on how to get there.
We played with most of our roster intact with some minor injuries along the way. We did decide to move Devin Harris at the trade deadline for the LA Clippers 1st round pick. It will end up in the high 20s or so, but would give us something to get bench talent for next year. After that trade we signed Tyshawn Taylor for one year to be the backup PG. The one major injury we did incur was Raheem Thompson went down with an ACL tear just before the All-Star break. We signed Trey Thompkins on a one year to help with minutes in the front court. Depending on what happens this offseason Thompkins might end up coming back as he provided some good numbers down the stretch.
Ray Ray was as advertised. He did miss some time with an injury and only played 55 games, but with a little bit of work and seasoning I can see him becoming that star I pinned my hopes on. Terrence also provided the numbers he was signed for. Dorian's numbers suffered a little bit, but that was expected as he now didn't have to do it all by himself every night. The good news was he kept his nose clean and was a much better teammate throughout the year. His future in Dallas was looking a little brighter. A nice surprise was the play of Shane Larkin. His turnovers were a little high, but he shot lights out from the three point line and showed that scoring punch he had back in his Miami Hurricane days. I didn't see him as a starter but definitely as that 6th man scorer off the bench.
As for the rest of the league, the Bobcats and Thunder finished as number one seeds. The Bobcats had a better record than even last year (63-29)and led the league for the third year in a row in scoring (113ppg). It was even more frustrating when the Bobcats won their third title in a row in seven games against New Orleans. Kyrie won his third Finals MVP. That was my championship! But I know, I have to move on.
