Where do I even begin?
Posted on February 12, 2014 at 05:41 PM.
I'm sitting in my new office here in Dallas just contemplating what has happened in the past 24 hours. I still can't believe it. But now it's time to move on and get back to work.

So where do I start with this roster? It almost looks like Donnie was trying to recreate some of his Dad's Golden State Warrior Run DMC teams. There are SG galore on this roster.

My first goal was to get a young star. Dorian Francis was a 2017 All-Star, but I felt that was more of the fact he had to do it all by himself not that he was a superstar. Not to mention there were rumors of his attitude starting to cause friction in the locker room. I wanted someone who we could point to for the next 10 years as the man. I needed another Dirk, which is easier said than done. But as luck might have it, there was a player who came into the league last year who I thought was the exact fit. I had my eye on him from day one, but that Bobcat team just wasn't a good fit. However, now I needed him more than ever.

"Sweet" Ray Ray Francis is the man I'm talking about. He was the next Dirk if there ever was one. A seven footer who could shoot as soon as he stepped in the gym. I wanted him for our cornerstone and was willing to part with anything to get him. Luckily, the team that had drafted him, the Pistons, were overloaded in the front court and were not making the most use out of him. So it was going to be easier to pry him from them then it probably would have been from most teams. After a couple of discussions with the Pistons GM, and playing the woe is me card after the Bobcat firing, we were able to settle on a trade: C.J.McCollum(who I def liked, for the Bobcats he was an awesome 6th man who could play point or shooting guard), Robin Lopez ( a good defensive player who could rebound), and my 2018 1st Rd pick (which I knew was prob going to be a high pick due to the look of this team) for Ray Ray Francis. I was a little loathe to part with the 2018 1st rd pick, but I felt like getting Ray Ray for the long haul was worth it. And I had some other assets I was hoping to swap for picks going forward.

Next objective was to get a SF that I felt going forward could provide some meaningful minutes and grow into a possible starter. There was another player that I had my eye on, Byron Augustin. He was a very smooth character who I felt could become a standout point forward in this league. The Rockets were looking to move him as it wouldn't be long before his rookie contract was up. we were able to settle on a trade of: Jae Crowder and David Lee for Bryon Augustin and Juvonte Reddic.

My last immediate objective was I needed to clear up this shooting guard glut that I still had even after trading McCollum. There was lots of trades and talk on this front as all of my SG were on the table. I was hoping to keep Terrence Ross as I did like his athleticism and ability to hit the three. Francis was a very good player, but like I said before was starting to become an issue in the locker room. And even rumors of a relapse into the cocaine habit that got him suspended his senior year of college. Jordan Adams was a player who just never reached his potential. Sergio Munoz was a new rookie who showed promise and I was hoping to keep going forward for depth.

Ultimately, it came to a deal with the Grizzlies of Jordan Adams for Raheem Thompson. I was hoping Thompson could provide some depth at PF that was sorely needed with the trade of Lee.

I officially moved Francis to SF. We hired a personal advisor for him in the hopes that he could get things under control. But as he was coming up on an option year, his conduct during the year could make a move required.

So as the season got under way I felt the roster looked a little better than it did on the first day. It still had a lot of work, but this was all I could do in season. The next offseason would be the opportunity to really mold the team like I wanted. Without a pick in 2018 the help was going to have to come from free agency. We were going to have lots of cap space available to go after some good players. For 2019 there was a kid that was on our radar, as I'm sure he was on everyone's if he declared, that I felt could be the second piece to the puzzle to go along with Ray Ray to put us back into prominence. But for now we had to go with what we had.

Hahaha oh my hunch was correct. How could it not be though. That's everyone's hunch right now. 2019 = dc6 right I've lost track not seeing the game in awhile. Ray Ray will do great great things for you. And if you can find someone else with some great pace to run the wing with tdot you will br untouchable on the break! I'm thinking Devin Harris as a trade chip. Houston Is solid off the bench.

That's not a bad trade to get Ray Ray in the fold. I love Devin Harris as a backup pg as I have him on my team also Give Dorian Francis a chance bro..He will start to show his talents in a year or two.

Blindsidz you nailed it on Harris as a trade chip. Yep this was 2017-18 so DC 5(2018 Class). I will only be able to go up to training camps until DC 6(2019 Class) is released. I wish I had done what dreece does and put in pre-season so I could play those games to last me until DC 6. I'm also going to have to slowplay the next season as I won't be able to play DC 6 until DC 7 is out and I can start that regular season. Oh well.

Dreece, He earned at least another year. Plus I have to keep him around to use as bait for DC6.

Actually I'm wrong. I'm going in order of all the dc's but I did VTCRB's class first.
So '14=vtcrb; '15=DC1; '16=DC2; '17=DC3; '18=DC4 (Which I'm on now); '19=DC5; '20=DC6

So I have another year before the man shows up. Which is good. That means I can play some this year and not have to wait. Wait till you see what I did with the roster and all that cap space I had though. Completely changed the team. lol

Dammit. That's right I didn't use the real class wish I had though. That'll be why I got the years different. I look forward to the next update though
