So that discussion that Jordan and I were supposed to have after the celebration party, never happened. I got a call from him the next day saying we would have to postpone. But to continue on working and everything would be taken care of. I just led the team to back-to-back championships, so no worries. I figured we would take care of the official stuff later concerning my contract.
Therefore, I continued on with the normal offseason tasks.
First off were the options we accepted:
Parker 5.89mil
Embiid 2.59mil
Holden 2.22mil
Then we put in the qualifying offers for restricted FA:
Zeller 1yr/7.01mil
Stokes 1/1.35mil
And we declined to offer McCollum 1yr/3.30mil
This gave us about 11mil under the cap to shore up the bench and find a 6th man replacement for McCollum. He was going to ask for about 9-10mil for 4 years and I wasn't willing to pay that much.
2017 Draft:
This draft was top loaded with some crazy talent as always. Winning the title however put us in spot 30. But glad to swap the high picks for titles anyday.
Draft day was very active on the trade front as well. Much more than usual it seemed. We had a couple of offers to move up, but decided to stay put until our pick.
Along the way these trades were completed during the draft:
Bucks - 1st Rd #6 and Ekpe Udoh for
Raptors - Rudy gay and 2018 2nd Rd
Pacers - 1st Rd #7 and George Hill for
Nuggets - D. Gallinari
Kings - 1st Rd #12 and Will Lanier for
Celtics - Jeff Green
Hawks - 1st Rd #15 for
Suns - G. Dragic and 2nd Rd #3
Knicks - 1st Rd #24 and Blevins for
Mavs - Alonzo Black and 2nd Rd #4
Not seeing anyone I was really keen on taking and looking for some depth I made this trade when it came to my pick:
Bobcats - 1st Rd #30, Chris Terrell, and Andrew Harrison for
Bucks - Ashley Walker, Jordan McRae, and 2nd Rd #5
The Bucks then swapped that pick:
Bucks - 1st Rd #30 and 2018 2nd Rd for
Bulls - Tony Snell
My second round picks were nobody that I ended up releasing during pre-season.
The final stage of the FA saw us matching the offer sheet to Cody Zeller for 4yr/26mil and Jarnell Stokes for 3yr/11mil.
We also added front court depth in Zac Randolph for 1yr/2mil and Perry Jones for 2yr/3mil.
This put us over the cap in meeting those offers for Zeller and Stokes, but left us with the full 5mil exception to use during the year if injuries required us to.
Now to get my contract taken care of and start the pursuit of a threepeat baby!!

Dayumn man! Such a fine read. I wish you all the past in that quest for title number 3. Me and the raptors are looking pretty lowly right now. MJ has to take care of you else he has lost his mind. Excellent trade on draft day. Depending on how they developed Walker you've found a fantastic sixth man. He does everything for me. And I will keep him at any cost haha! Looking forward to another update!

I have never played with Walker before, but I remembered you singing his praises. I needed some SG depth and was looking to get rid of Harrison and his 5mil contract. I could never shoot with him. So I was pretty happy with the trade.
