PRESEASON GAME #4
Posted on November 7, 2010 at 04:47 AM.
The Cleveland Browns managed to outlast the Chicago Bears with a 38-34 win at home. Cleveland finishes the preseason with a 4-0 record, which was a surprise to everyone, except the Browns. "We work hard, we play hard," CB Eric Wright commented after the game. HB Peyton Hillis added, "Yeah, you like to go undefeated, but it's not like this counts for anything. The real test comes next week against Tampa."

For Cleveland, the starters only played the first quarter, then gave way to the reserves. Colt McCoy started and was an accurate 8 of 9 before exiting the game. Eric Mangini confirmed he's sticking with McCoy during the regular season, "We have three talented quarterbacks, but we like the way McCoy has managed the game, and he hasn't made too many mistakes, so we're gonna stick with him." When asked about being named the backup quarterback, Jake Delhomme commented "Obviously you want to be the guy, but at the end of the day it's the coaches decision."

The reserves played well, although Seneca Wallace continued his streak of throwing an interception in each game. Josh Cribbs lost a fumble on a punt early in the game, and Thomas Clayton lost one rushing late in the contest - both turning into points for the Bears.

For Chicago, Jay Cutler kept Cleveland's secondary guessing en route to 3 touchdown passes. Matt Forte was held in check, with only 37 yards on 10 carries. Johnny Knox and Rashied Davis both amassed over 100 yards receiving. The offensive line was suspect in the second half, giving up four sacks. Chicago seemed in control of the game late in the fourth, but were unable to come back from a Cleveland score with 6:04 remaining.
