1 - TB: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
I get it. Winston is pro-style ready...but I contend he isn't mature enough to be the face of a franchise. I think the team is so ready to blow it up and rebuild, though, that Lovie Smith and co. have no real choice but to hope this kid has truly become a man.
2 - TEN: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
I was buying trade stuff........now, I'm thinking they were just playing everyone like fiddles in case a monumental trade option came about. Apparently that didn't happen, though. This will end up like how Cam Newton was drafted one year after Jimmy Clausen did okay in Carolina...and obviously no one blames them, now because that was the smart thing to do.
3 - WAS: Leonard Williams, DT, USC
Scot McGloughan drafts for size, first - field IQ and speed secondary. They go light-speed to trade with JAX to make this happen and get the best defensive player in the draft overall.
4 - OAK: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
The best player for the Raiders is their QB for the first time in a long time. You get him the best weapon you can get. That weapon would be WR Kevin White - his height, size and speed combination are valued more than Amari Cooper's.
5 - JAX: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
They have missed and missed on WR prospects, and they just let the best of their so-so bunch get away in Cecil Shorts. They would be idiots not to draft a safe and explosive WR that should finally be "the one." I think that even if they had stayed at #3, Cooper would still have been their pick.
6 - NYJ: Dante Fowler Jr., OLB, Florida
The craziness of the first few picks makes a premier player slide who shouldn't have, but Todd Bowles couldn't be happier. They'll get a QB probably in round three - I think they'll want a WR in round two, and guys like Green-Beckham, Strong, Agholor and Coates will be there.
7 - CHI: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington
The problem with this team is lacking consistent identity on either side of the ball. Looking back at their history says they should go back to and stick to said history. They need monsters in the Midway. They get the best of the beasts. This guy is like Vince Wilfork...hence he's like the "Fridge." I dub thee, "The Freezer."
8 - ATL: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami
If your pro bowl caliber QB is now, rattled some, and you can't run the ball so well, then your issue is Offensive Line...big time. So...you start to fix that...big time.
9 - NYG: Vic Beasley, DE, Clemson
This is a steal at this point, and they know it.
10 - STL: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
You finally have a QB to compete with the three other QB's in your division. What you don't have are decent enough CB's to stop those other QB's. You then get the best CB you can.
11 - MIN: Landon Collins, SS, Alabama
CB could be used, yes, but further looks shows they need pass and run support help, all-in-one. So you get this guy/position taken care of instead - two birds/one (stone) pick.
12 - CLE: Alvin Dupree, DE, Kentucky
Worst position to be in for a team because you have to pick not just a position of need, but you have to take a player that will excite everyone on the field, in the stands at the game, just everywhere. Already, at this point, that player isn't a QB, so you take the best need player available no matter what. In fact, I don't think you take a QB for another round or so, either.
13 - NO: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
It seems like NO needs to rebuild everywhere, and most would think at TE, first. No. Keep Drew Brees upright.
14 - MIA: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
I actually consider MIA the team that needs WR second most, even though I have OAK and JAX taking the first two guys. Still, this guy is going to be a great player, too.
15 - SF: Arik Armstead, DE, Oregon
They rather have to make this pick, and they've basically told everyone who it is, too. This would still be a solid pick despite all of that. I would expect him to transition to a roving LB, though. I think you can put him multiple places and blitz from anywhere with him.
16 - HOU: Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
I don't think anyone expects this, but they should because they really fell in love with this kid at the combine, and with other CB's in the draft suddenly being red-flagged, they have to move on him one round quicker.
17 - SD: Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
Possibly the purest NT in the whole draft is still available. They make this pick fast.
18 - KC: Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Surprisingly, not many NFL folks have mentioned the glaring need they have at CB. They have no fiery leader back there or anyone a QB really fears. Also, this pick is because Andy Reid can take players with some off field concerns and make them work out, still.
19 - CLE: Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF
Yeah, they got some guys in free agency, but neither of them will last forever, if two years.
20 - PHI: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami
Good old Chip Kelly. What does the evil genius have in mind? It's crazier that people think him so different a coach as any other. He simply wants players that buy in and/or fit his scheme. Like Rickey Bobby, he wants to go fast. Fill a hole with a fast, scheme fit player then. It's not that complicated.
21 - CIN: Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
The Bengals are actually pretty sound everywhere (on paper, at least). I think they can take BPA and boost their O-line. Peat likely moves inside to Guard.
22 - PIT: Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
They really don't have a choice. They have to replace their defensive backfield.
23 - DET: Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
No RB has stood out for the Lions since Barry Sanders left town. Here's hoping that Melvin Gordon can change all of that.
24 - DAL: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
No, he won't play right away...not for a while, likely. They can do this, though, as many forget how good Joseph Randle is already. Gurley will be a bright future, though. This trade happens with ARZ because CAR and BAL would both take Gurley.
25 - CAR: Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke
Missing out on Gurley is tough, but they get another guy they were looking at, anyway, and they help their O-line solidify.
26 - BAL: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota
Many areas of concern with players coming back at injury for BAL, and they usually take BPA over wants. This time, though, I think wants/needs are the same.
27 - ARI: Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State
Again...another choice that is a must. They have to have more talent at DT after losing so much there in free agency.
28 - DEN: Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
Losing Knighton at DT was a tough loss. Though, Bennett isn't the same size, he plays hard and furious, and that may be even better.
29 - IND: Benardrick McKinney, ILB, Mississippi State
They got picked apart in their defensive backfield, but they also have no one to really put pressure on QB's. They take the high-motor, pressure guy.
30 - GB: Clive Walford, TE, Miami
Seemingly, the Pack steals a prime TE from the waiting hands of the Saints who are picking next...
31 - NO: Devin Funchess, WR, Michigan
...but I have a hunch that NO wants a different kind of TE to more exactly replace who they lost. Funchess is perfect. He WILL be a TE. Bank on it.
32 - NE: Shaq Thompson, OLB, Washington
The best LB in college last year will become the best SS you wish never played for the Patriots because we hate how good they are already. This guy will make his CB team mates look so much better.

Just my opinion but Tennessee wasted the chance to get Rivers. Mariota is another wasted draft pick like That football guy the Brown's picked. Sure Mariota will work harder but his game is not pro style and like RGIII and so many others he just will not be what people want or hope. Though RGIII may become a pocket or Rothlisberger type and yet be worth it. All these flashy, running, poor footwork in the pocket having, great read college quarterbacks simply can not outrun teams with entire NFL linebacking groups. Even the best NCAA teams do not field 3 or 4 NFL Linebackers and thus who they beat in college is not comparable. Not to mention the line and db's. The NFL game is simply different.

Before anyone tells me Wilson is that style, he is not. He can run yes and so can Luck. But Wilson set records for passing efficiency at Wisconsin and played in the pocket. Yes, he can run a read option but he does not have to. He can set and throw and has great pocket footwork and in college threw far less pics than these other players.

In the end we will see how all these young Qb's progress but I just do not see read option guys as being great NFL Qb's

I could be wrong of course and he seems like a nice guy and I hope he succeeds. We will see.... They have a young and soon to be amazing O-Line so he has a chance at least.

Yeah, I'm torn on Mariota, too. My hope is that Mariota having been in such a fast, fast, read the field fast, fast, fast system translates better into the NFL. Remember that Kurt Warner wasn't very acclimated for NFL passing (or just the speed of the game) until after he played a while in Arena Football where it's nowhere near the competition, obviously, but it is way faster...you have to get the ball out quick because the field is smaller and allows for way less time and space for WR routes to unfold. Fortunately for Mariota, the faster football is played, it actually has to be more precise...and that, I think, is in his favor. We'll see, though. We'll see very soon.
