Making It To The NHL: A BAP
Posted on August 19, 2009 at 09:46 AM.

After the Buffalo Sabres took Tyler Myers, at #12 in the first round, they turned their attention to they're offence. There was still a wide variety of talent but they knew they needed an explosive dangler. When Garrry Bettman announced that the Buffalo Sabres were up next, the Buffalo table was frantically reviewing their scouting notes all the way up to the podium.

When the general manager for the Sabres, Darcy Regier stepped to the mike, Canadian born left winger, Logan Burns was holding his breath, being not selected in the first round didn't come as a surprise, some scouts had warned him that because of his low weight of 150lbs not filling out his 6 foot 9 frame and being named the biggest gamble for this years draft he may be overlooked for the first round. Having grown up in Ottawa and being an Ottawa Senators fan he would love to be selected by the Sens, but just to be selected by any team would be a dream come true.

Darcy Regier's voice comes through the mike, "the Buffalo Sabres are proud to select, from the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, Logan Burns. Logan jumps up and gives his all his family a hug on his way to the podium where the entire Buffalo table congradulates him. "Welcome to the Buffalo Sabres organization Logan we are very excited to have you be a part of this organization.

TSN

TSN.ca has learned that the Buffalo Sabres have inked their 2008 2nd round draft choice, Logan Burns, to a one-year, two-way contract worth an estimated $0.625 million.TSN has also learned that Logan Burns will be starting his NHL career in the AHL, with the Portland Pirates, despite having an impressive training camp GM Darcy Regier still feels he would benefit from experience in the AHL. Darcy Regier went on to say that he was very impressed by Logan's puck handling ability and ability to control the play. "I feel confident that he will be joining our NHL team in the very near future." Burns has been working out with fellow Buffalo prospect Patrick Kaleta.

The head coach of the Portland Pirates called me into his office today. "Well Burns since you'll be starting your career down here with me I've decided to start you out on the 3rd line, but keep in mind that could change depending on your play." I also have some season expectations for you this season..."
