Reds Hot In June; Take Series 2-1 From Mets

Cincinnati, OH--- After a sub-par .500 record in the month of May, the Reds continue to win in June. After a 4-2 home-stand against Detroit and Cleveland, the Redlegs beat the struggling 26-41 Mets to start a six game road-trip. "We are playing good ball right now," said Dusty Baker in a post-game interview. The Reds pitching has been a big part in the successful season so far. The starting pitching has an ERA of 3.24 in the first three months of the season, while the bullpen has put up a struggle 3.60. "Our bullpen is getting better, we started off rough and are starting to bounce back," said left hander Sean Marshall, who has been nearly untouchable, with an ERA of 1.86. Since the beginning of June the Reds bullpen has allowed a total of 9 runs through 15 games.

On Sunday the Reds beat the Mets 8-4 to win the series two games to one. After losing a early 3-0 lead on Saturday, the Reds offense struck for 8 runs on 15 hits. Jay Bruce went 3-4, with 2 doubles and an RBI to lead the Reds past the Mets. Mike Leake picked up the win; as he improves to 5-5 on the year. The Reds will travel to Cleveland on Monday to face the Indians for the the second time this year, as the look to bring back the Ohio Cup to Cincinnati. Bronson Arroyo (7-3, 2.94) will take the hill against Justin Masterson (6-3, 3.66).

Other Notes: Drew Stubbs was placed on the 15-day DL, after injuring his oblique. OF Willie Harris was recalled from AAA Louisville.
