Reds Bounce Back----Take Rubber Match

Cincinnati, Oh.---Mike Leake (2-2) had a solid outing in his fifth start of the season on Thursday, as the Reds overcame their offensive struggles and struck for 17 hits in a win against the Cubs. Ryan Dempster took the mound for Chicago after being activated from the 15-day DL, going 6.1 innings and giving up 2 runs on 9 hits. The Reds did something they have not been able to do all season----coming up with clutch hits. Cincinnati scored 5 runs in the 7th and 8th inning after being down early in the game 2-0. Ryan Ludwick came up big the the 8th with a 2 out pinch hit home run, his first of the year. The Redlegs struck for two more runs in the 8th, all coming with two outs in the inning. Zack Cozart continued his hot streak, coming up with 4 of the Reds 17 hits--raising his batting average to .351 on the year, and is currently second in ROY race, behind Kirk Nieuwenhuis. The Reds will travel to Pittsburgh on Friday to play the Pirates for the first team in 2012. Johnny Cueto (2-1) 1.30 ERA, will take on AJ Burnett (0-2) 2.03 ERA.
