Utterly destroyed...

So. This is how it ends. I have one line, an unbelievable line, but one line nevertheless. Hall, Landeskog, Nugent-Hopkins, Larsson, Pitkanen and Allen are, probably 75% of my cap. (No exaggeration, they're all above 10.000M per year. I have had to trade away everybody that has and form of substantial cap room, and it has left me with one line. However, this line has dominated the NHL.

Hall has won 4 Harts in a row, Nugent-Hopkins as won 2 or 3 Lady Byngs, and assortment of players (none of whom remain with the team) have won the Calder for the past 4 years, Pitkanen has won 2 of the last 3 Norrises, and the other one was won by Larsson. And then there is Jake Allen. At least 5 Vezinas in a row, At least 5 Jennings'in a row.

Oh. I might as well tell you their overalls:
Hall 96
RNH 94
Landeskog 94
Larsson 97
Pitkanen 94

Very good. Oh wait. I forgot Allen. 99. He has 99 in over half of his stats. Larsson has 99 in every defensive stat except faceoffs (OH NO) and an assortment of others.

After this, it takes a steep decline. Phillipe Joudrey is a 92 OVR defenseman, but he is a tough guy, so he is essentially useless (4 goals in 400~ games). In one season Allen had more goals than him. Yes, My goalie had more goals than a 92. After Joudrey, I have Berno Grubauer, who is an 82 RW PWF with A A- B potential. Providing I can keep him, he will be Landeskog's replacement. Hopefully

As I stumble forward, I fearfully await the retirement of my stars. Allen is approaching 38, and the youngest of my other crew is Pitkanen at 31. The inevitability of this will free up cap space, but will leave me lacking everywhere.

I might post a roster, but the remainder of my roster essentially does nothing and changes yearly.

How is your team doing for Wins and Losses?

Really good actually, I've probably averaged over 50 wins per season in the past 5 or 6 years. All thanks to my one line though.

Hope u have your draft picks after rebuild, same thing I'll do probably have 88 or higher centers everywhere
, luckily I have stamkos signed for 4 years at 9.5 and he is 99 overall.Sadly I could not keep Hedman he was 94 but I got a 90 to replace him. Sorry for any misspelling I am on my phone.

Thanks! and yeah I think I'll have enough prospects to replenish the forefront when they retire. Getting Stamkos that cheap is a really good move. Hopefully you'll be able to keep him.

Yeah, I don't normally keep sooo many guys around either. Still, I know how it feels, in my old Boston one I had 6-7 players in the 90's, so each season I was giving out a new contract over $12M. Luckily I planned it out so I had NHL ready prospects to replace the guys I had to release, and signed some defensive veterans for a very cheap cost as well.

I don't know if you saw my forum post, but my file screwed up because the game froze. I lost it all

Hey, saw your post about the game not working, mine was doing this yesterday too. I'm not sure how much online you do, but if not a lot, try this:

Deleted your NHL 12 from "Game Data Utility" and then when you start the game up again, don't re-install version 1.04. Then, be offline when you are loading your GM Mode. It worked for me after mine wouldn't load for 4 hours

It actually makes the game much better to play too. The teams are relatively even, as they should be, goalies aren't letting in any garbage and cpu defencemen aren't Usain Bolt-ing down the ice to stop a clear break-away. The game is much better now.

Thanks, but I've already deleted the file because I had a cluster of files that needed to be deleted. It was a good run, and I might still delete that because the breakaway thing really irks me

Me too. There is only 2 real problems I've had so far.

1) Winnipeg loses their jerseys, but I'm sure there is still a jersey code, so whatever.
2) Penalties go way up, for both teams. Simple slider fix though.
