Toronto Maple Leafs 2022-2023 Season Update
Posted on July 5, 2012 at 08:18 PM.
After two seasons, the 2020-2021 season when we bowed out in the first round, and the 2021-2022 season when the Leafs won their fourth cup with me at the realm, the Leafs decided on beginning to dump salary because, in two season, they will need to resign Gabriel Landeskog, who will want an increase from 7.745M, Adam Larsson, who will almost guaranteed want at least a double in salary from 5.000M, and their star netminder in Jake Allen, who also might want a 200% increase from 5.000M.

I have already begun some shedding, beginning with Franklin Lupul, and my entire second line of Igor Glebov, Teuvo Teravainen and Brett Stovin. My current roster is:

When the time to resign nears, I will most likely trade Jorgen Hertzberg as I feel I don't need such a high quality back up. This upcoming offseason I don't have anyone significant becoming a free agent, so I should be able to save some cash or use it on a one year rental player.
I currently have Hall signed for 6 years at 12.260M, which is quite expensive, although I believe he is worth it.
RNH is signed for 5 years at 8.275M, which I think is definitely a fair price. I hope I can resign these players rather easily, because they are vital to the success of this team.

A couple other notes:
I wish you could negotiate contract extensions when there is one year left on the deal like in real life.
While doing the roster chart, I realized that I have around 5 or 6 first overall selections on my team;
Hall (2010)
Pitkanen (2012)
Nugent-Hopkins (2011)
Fehr (2016)
Wakabayashi (2017)
Eric Menegatti (2022)
This shocked me, I didn't realize I had done this.
I have four people with full trade value (Hall, Landeskog, Larsson, Allen)

Wow, you really re-vamped the roster. I like the youth movement you have going on, hope you have enough cap room to sign everyone this season! Team looks awesome.
