Almost every night when a person goes to sleep, their body has a dream. Dreams can range from something that has been on a person's mind for a while to something they had never even thought of prior. Sometimes people remember everything from a dream, while other times, they do not remember a single thing from their dream.
Last night when I went to bed, I had a weird dream about video games. When I entered my dream, it was set in the early 90's as I walked into my local Funco Land (now Gamestop) video game store that is located in a strip mall close to my home. When I walked into the store, there were a fair amount of people shopping in the store, as well as a lot of items stocked on the store shelves. There were all sorts of games ranging from past-gen (NES/Sega/SNES) games, all the way up to current-gen (PS3/XBox360/Wii) games. As I started walking around the store, I was browsing games on the store shelves. I saw Tecmo Bowl, NBA Live, and Paperboy just to name a few, as well as several gaming systems and accessories.
So far, this sounds like a pretty normal dream, but trust me, it got weird at the end.
As I continued shopping around the store, I came back over to the NES gaming section. For some reason, I pick up Tecmo Super Bowl and was staring at the game cartridge and contemplated buying it before putting the game down. After placing Tecmo Bowl back on the shelf, I reached over and picked up another gaming cartridge titled, "Clay Guida's Ultimate Fighter". Yes, you heard me, I was holding "Clay Guida's Ultimate Fighter" for the Nintendo Entertainment System in my hands. Shortly after looking at the game, I put it down and walked out of the store, and essentially woke up from my dream afterwards.
Looking back on this dream, I would have to say it was one of the most unique dreams I have had in awhile. Funny how PS3/Xbox 360 both existed in the early 1990’s as well as how real the dream felt with the gaming systems, store location, etc.
One last thing about the dream is that I remember looking at the game cartridge and the game itself looked like how Mike Tyson’s Punchout looked for the NES (see picture at the top of this post). The game had white lettering on a black background and Guida's headshot was there with his trademark crazy hairstyle. The End!
