So I purchased NHL 09 two days after Christmas... due to my living situation and moving etc, I didn't have time really since March to even hook up my Xbox 360.

I had to go to three stores just to get a copy which tells me this game is still in high demand because it was the ONLY major sports game I could think of that wasn't on the shelf at the other two stores (best buy/target) I got the final copy at wal-mart... un real.

Be a Pro mode is pretty sick. I'm a goalie, because I love the position. I think one of the things that made me not go get this game earlier was struggling with sliders. In years past I would always spend hours even days trying to find sliders I liked... luckily I saw Flyermania (I think that was your handle?) and the post regarding his all-star sliders. Awesome. I dove right into All-Star, because I don't have xbox live yet and I wanna play a little while and get halfway decent. It's hard tho, but thats why I love it so far. I'm on Wilkes-Barre, and our TEAM won ONE game in October, I have gone 0-5-2, and I can honestly say 3 of my losses were because of the team I played on. Turnovers right in front of my net, deflection off the defender or going 0/5 on powerplays in a 2-0 (empty) loss. The game in which I gave up 8 goals to Manitoba... yeah my fault.

I like that it's hard and challenging though. I know I'm playing well enough to win some games, and I've noticed the AI concentrating on certain aspects of my game, which has helped me learn how to better play the position.

haha yea no kidding huh? I kinda wanna get traded, does that happen? I think my GAA right now is high 3s. Which isn't AWFUL considering I'm playing on AS and haven't played an nhl game since march and I dove right in without playing exhib games etc.

I think the coolest part of being a goalie in Be a Pro mode is I feel like I'm actually learning based on the AI's performance. I feel like I'm getting better I just can't get over the hump. I mean losing a 2-0 game, what else can I do really

Goalies rule!

It can be pretty tough to play against the cpu opponents but still a lot of fun.

Lost game 1 last night 4-2, my team tried for once but I let them down with a soft goal late in the 3rd to make it 3-2.

Then... the heavens opened! Took Game 2 last night with a 4-3 victory in a shootout. The 3rd shootout of my career, I shut them out and we scored twice. First time in 3 attempts my team scored in a shootout! VICTORY!

Then I had a disc error and my heart almost fell to the floor. Luckily it saved and now I have to go home and clean my cache.

i play goalie for a club right now. we are currently 48-5-4 overall and in division 6 as of 12/30/08 and jumping up in the ranks fast. i have i believe 185 games played as goal online and i have a 2.14 GAA. Won 12 straight last night and had 2 shutouts. currently im ranked 202 i believe in the world and as of last night i was ranked 20 for the current week. just have to remember to not use the right analog stick unless you absolutely need to...ex..people trying to do rap arounds and covering up the puck...also try not to move around so much in the net as it can throw your alignment with the puck off. its definately the best position to play and the most fun as far as im concerned. but keep up the work guys theres not many good goalies out there.. feel free to friend request me on xbox live. my tag is TAMALE137.
