Coyotes finally get on the ice!

New Head Coach Dave Tippett comes to the Coyotes with a fantastic track record after leading division rival Dallas for the past few seasons. Tippett has been making sure his men are ready to play high-level hockey amidst so much turmoil in the front office. "There is nothing we can do about the ownership or front office issues, all we can do is play good hockey and win games" said Coach Tippett. This has not been an easy sell to the players who are all aware the future in Phoenix beyond this season is very cloudy. After years of mediocrity under NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, Tippett should be a breath of fresh air for a city that wants a good hockey team around. Captain Shane Doan expressed "As players we need to just come in everyday and work hard to put a good product on the ice". Doan has spent all thirteen years of his career with the Phoenix Coyotes franchise and is the undoubted face of the team. He mentioned how he has seen this city rally around hockey in the past, but with the team not making the playoffs since 2002 the team understands the lack of excitement regarding hockey in the desert. "All we can focus about is what we have in front of us, and that is the opportunity to bring playoff hockey to Phoenix." The Coyotes hope to take the right first step as they travel to Los Angeles and come out with a win in the first game of the season.
