We successfully completed an upgrade of our database server early this morning. We now have more RAM and twice the CPU power. We hope that this will put us in a good position to avoid any major slow downs during the busy MLB release period that is quickly approaching. Enjoy The Show demo today.

We are looking for experienced coders who are interested in developing some of the exciting new features we have planned here at OS. The ideal candidate will have a high level of coding expertise in PHP and MySQL and preferably will have worked with vBulletin in the past (most of our site's features are built onto our vBulletin forums). Obviously having a solid understanding of sports video games will also be a major advantage as the new features we have planned all evolve around adding to OS visitor's ... Read More

I've updated our front page poll with a question that I've been wanting to get everyone's feedback on for some time now. The new poll asks if you're primarily a sports fan (who also likes video games) or a video gamer (who also likes sports)?
Personally, I love sports. I love sports so much that I'm not just content with watching them on TV or participating in them in real life, but I also want to simulate them in the video games I play. So I'm a sports fan who also likes video games. ... Read More

With Christmas only one day away (it is New Year's eve already here in Australia) and the year quickly coming to an end, I wanted to take this opportunity to look back at 2008 from a personal and professional perspective. I also wanted to thank everyone who has visited OS over the past 12 months and share with you some of our successes.
Personally, 2008 has been a huge year for me. Not only did I drastically increase my involvement with OS, but I also left my job at EA after having ... Read More

Here is a quick update on a small new addition we've made to the site.
A couple of days ago we added a new tab to your Arena. The "Scores" tab lists all of the games you have rated and their respective Reader Scores and Hype Scores. You can use this tab to change your scores if you so desire.

For those of you with internet connections on your mobile/cell phones, which lets face it, is just about everybody these days, I've put together some helpful information to make surfing Operation Sports easier.
1. Use Viigo to view OS News
If you have a Blackberry or a phone that uses Windows Mobile you need to download Viigo. As well as being great for keeping you up to date with sports scores this program has a very easy to use RSS feed reader. It comes pre-loaded with ... Read More

With so many quality Arenas being revealed last week, I felt as though this competition did not get the attention it deserved. We are wanting to find the best looking Arena and need more nominations.
Which one of your friends has the best looking Arena in your opinion? Nominate this person and they could win a game of their choice on any platform.
Nominations close (for real this time) in 48 hours .

As I promised, I'm going to use my blog to keep you up to date with what is happening behind the scenes here at OS.
Firstly, I want to thank everyone for making the first week of OS Arena an extremely successful one. As expected we had quite a few bugs at launch (some still remain) but thanks to the support and enthusiasm shown by everyone the launch went off like a dream.
This week, we're hoping to be able to add a few new things to OS Arena. They include:

I'm all about saving people time so I've just installed a Quick Reply box to Private Messages. No more having to waste time pressing the Reply button and waiting for the reply page to load.
Look at it this way... if an average OS visitor receives 5 PM's per day and the time saved per reply thanks to the Quick Reply box is 2 seconds per PM, that is an extra 10 seconds per day that you will have back. That is 3650 extra seconds per year which equals exactly 1 hour!

Our talented coder Diego has just fixed osatwork.com. So if your nasty employer has blocked operationsports.com you can now once again access the entire site via www.osatwork.com. Enjoy!
Update: After a slight hiccup it really is fixed now... I promise!
