OS Instant Messenger Launches Stuck
Posted on April 7, 2009 at 06:24 PM.
After a slight delay we have officially launched OS Instant Messenger.

OS IM allows you to chat with your OS friends in real-time by utilizing a Facebook style chat bar that is available at the bottom of all OS pages. The only requirement is that you need to be registered and logged in to see it and use it.

OS IM is the first step towards making interacting with your friends and fellow sports gamers simpler and more accessible here at OS.

If OS IM is not for you, you can disable it by going to User CP > Edit Options.

Not seeing OS IM?
We recommend logging out and logging back in again. If this does not work, you may need to clear your OS cookies from your browser.

I tried logging out/in and also cleared Firefox's cookies and I still don't see the chat bar.

Firefox 3.0.8
Mac OSX 10.4.11

Wierd. If you login with Safari, any different?

I'm having the same issue in FF 3.0.8 on XP.

It did work in IE, but no matter what I do in FF it doesn't work. I've cleared my cookies a couple times, logged in and out a couple times, just doesn't seem to show up for some reason.

Are you using an ad blocker or JS blocker?

I'm not using an ad blocker, and I'm pretty sure I'm not using a JS blocker, but I'm not sure. Is there an easy way to check if I'm using a JS blocker?

It would be listed in your Add-Ons I expect. Have you tried removing all temp internet files... logging out... closing all FF browser windows... and logging back in again?

Figured it out.

Java quick starter is what was causing it. I disabled that in my add-ons and the chat is working now.

I cleared out everything there is to clear out in Firefox and that did the trick.

I've had it working in Chrome. You'll likely need to delete your chrome temp files and cookies.

OK cool, it works with firefox.

I can't get it to work with Firefox or IE6 even after deleting everything. Maybe work is blocking it, but I doubt it.

It works for me on IE but I can't get it to work on Firefox 3.0.8. I'm on Windows 7.

OK I got it to work on Firefox now. Had to disable ad-blocker for OS and close my browser and re-open.
