As a die hard Broncos fan I'm happy that this trade finally happened!! Losing a franchise QB does hurt but in the long run it may do more good for Denver. Its very obvious that McDaniels wants a hard working no nonsense kind of team. He came from a franchise in N.E. where no one player is bigger than the team as a whole. They say the right things and go out and work hard. As a fan I love to see that coming to Den.
With all these draft picks I hope DEN does the right thing with them. If I was the GM of the team I would use the #12 pick on Tyson Jackson. Then with the 18th pick continue to improve the D and draft Peria Jerry. The O-line also needs a bit of work, use the picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to improve.
These now leaves Kyle Orton as the starting QB. I have not seen him play enough to say I hate or love him. I can only go off stats and people on TV. Looking at his stats at Purdue and hearing they ran the same offense that the Broncos will run. I like having him starting and seeing what he can do. Say the Broncos go 6-10 or go 12-4 and make the playoffs, my plan for the 2010 draft would be the same. You trade both of your first round picks and do everything possible to get Colt McCoy. You bring him in and he learns for a year or two. By the time he starts in his 3rd year he knows the system and both the Offense and Defense are vastly improved.
