I would not say that I'm a die hard Premier League fan but the way they replace teams and do standings by points I'm suprised the four major sports in the US have not used this system. Imagine baseball with the Premier League standings rule. First off you would not need a salary cap which most ownership is against. Break the 30 teams into two leagues. Have the top 15 teams in one league and the other 15 in another. Each year you would take the top 4 teams from each league and have a playoff. The 4 teams in the lower league would replace the bottom 4 in the higher league. The 4 teams from each league have a playoff crowning a champion for both leagues. I know that it is not perfect but would love to see this happen. Even if it was just in a game to test this theory out. I would also like to see it in the other 3 major sports. Same rules and still using the point system in hockey. I think this idea would work and make for more interesting matchups for teams like the Pirates and Royals. They have nothing to cheer for and no chance of winning. With this system it brings back fans for these teams in my mind.

Anyway, we started talking about the US sports and decided it wouldn't work for baseball of football. Both have too much of a good thing going with their respective systems, and honestly things are going so well for both, why mess with it?
Basketball and hockey, on the other hand, would be interesting guinea pigs for the soccer style of running a league.
