College Football In Ohio -- More than a Buckeye

Some folks outside of the state of Ohio tend to forget there are teams in Ohio besides the Buckeyes. When things like what went down this offseason happen you don't really see anything else. Granted you hear of the Akrons and Toledos and maybe a Youngstown St. here and there but that is because OSU beats 'em up prepping for the horribly strenuous B1G schedule. This little missive is basically here to tell you that the Ohio River Valley teams are here and we would like the love too....

The Bearcats are going through that lovely new coach phase still. They are working to find an identity, but from what I have seen they should be able to put an impressive product on the field. They will have their fits and starts, but I can see them doing rather well in the Big East. I always wanted them to take the big leap and join the Big 10 or the ACC when BC and Miami joined the ACC, but alas they chose not to take the full jump. I think they will be a solid second or third in the Big East behind a really strong USF and possibly a Rutgers or West Virginia.

The Miami University Redhawks out of the MAC should actually do well in conference this year, but they too will have growing pains with a lot of youth and a new Head Coach. I don't know much abou the new coach but he looks like he is really revamping the team and getting them fired up for action. They have tried to draw in bigger crowds by scheduling bigger out of conference opponents and it looks like their efforts may actually work.

As for the Bucks, this season will definitely be an exciting one. With The Sweater Vest out and Fickell in and Pryor electing to join Raider Nation we are in waters we haven't seen for quite awhile. I think Fickell is an excellent choice for Tressel's replacement and seens to be handling the storn rather well. Add to that, that for the first time in forever Michigan has a new coach the same year OSU does and the Big Game should just be that more ****.

This was my first shot at a blog and you can expect bigger and better things to come....
