" Good evening folks, I figured I'd swing by and give everyone some insight on our recruitng targets this season. I'll give you two prospects at our most needed positions.
QB- We are looking at Dan Coley and William Hamilton out of Florida. Both are 3 star prospects and are considered quick on their feet and are accurate passers.
RB-We are very well off at running backs, but we are looking at the 4 star kid Jeff Sparks outta Dade City. He is a bruiser and I really enjoy his film and the one game I saw. He has great vision and can run some people over.
FB- Bryce Peters out of Lake Magdalene, Florida. He is a mean blocker and can catch the ball out of the backfield.
G- We are looking at Eric Treangen out of Kendale Lakes, Florida. He is a 3 star guard who can do it all. He is strong enough to move a man and quick enough to pull out in front of the pack to run block.
DT- At defensive tackle, I am really pleased with the idea of having Josh Young outta Fort Pierce, Florida. He is a 3 star prospect who can stop the run and can get after the QB too. This guy is 6'4" and 330 pounds. He is a big, mean, athletic defender.
OLB/MLB- At our Sam, Will, and Mike backers, we are looking at 5 guys first off. Bo Young is a stout run stopper at Will backer. He is a bit undersized but has great speed and will be a valuable piece in our run stopping defense. Andrew Williams is a 3 star backer who I love. He is 6'2" and 210 pounds. He is also a fast backer, but can tackle with the best of them. Maurice Wilson is another run stopping backer who is a bigger guy and can plug the gaps effectively. At mike backer we have two big guys we are after. Eric Myers outta Carol City, Florida and Margate, Florida. Both are balanced players who can stop the run and defend the pass. There are both 3 star prospects and would be big additions to our D.
I hope this can give you guys something to ponder for now. We will release to the papers and school newsletter a bit more detailed recruiting report."
"Hello again everyone, I want to start off today by saying that this weather is beautiful. So I want to address some things concerning this upcoming season. First and foremost, I wanna tell you how I plan to win here at UCF. When I arrived I was informed that the primary playbook set that is run here offensively is a pro-style offense. I am pleased with this considering the recruiting has been geared towards a pro-style offense. I will focus a bit more on running the ball and controlling the clock but our recruiting ties fit my style every well. On defense I will install a stout 4-3. We will have big run stopping tackles, quick defensive ends, run stopping will and sam backers, and a Brian Urlacher like mike backer. My focus is to first stop the run. then stop the 3-5 yard underneath routes. Our corners will be physical. bump and run corners. Our safeties will be run stoppers and I like an Ed Reed type free safety over the top. We will be the prototypical man to man defense. My ultimate goal is to have a strong enough d-line to not have to blitz our backers.
To shift gears to recruiting, we have a low number of seniors, which is a blessing in disguise. This will allow us to attempt to re-establish our program and attract recruits. We will target the greater Orlando area and the majority of Florida. We will also visit Georgia and Alabama. There is alot of pressure in the south but I feel that we have an excellent staff and can have a strong recruiting year.
Right now we have a very promising team. Our o-line is young and ready to hit people. Harmon is a hell of a back and will have a great year under my system this year. His lead blocker Nick Hawkins is an amazing blocker and will be a cornerstone of our offense this year. Our QB's are both juniors and are very reliable players and will have a large impact this season. Our receivers are are a very talented bunch and will need to come through in 2nd down situations and after we have established the run in games. I love play-action after pulling saftey's in the box to help stop the run, so our boys need to be ready when called upon. On defense we have a very strong line and I will be expecting them to control the run and get after the QB. Our starting backers will be leaving after this season so that will be a heavy recruiting focus this year. We have a solid secondary that is very reliable and will need to be ready for alot of passing attempts after the other OC realizes that he can't run the ball on us. Well, I have alot of work to do, so I'll leave you guys with that and you can expect to hear from me next week about our top recruiting prospects.

STATEMENT FROM MIKE ROBERTS, NEW UCF COACH
Introduced by A.D. Al Harms
"Good morning everyone, I'm Mike Roberts, your new UCF football coach. I'll tell you a little about myself, I'm a small town boy, I was born in 1958 in Raytown, Missouri, just about 4 miles outside of Kansas City. I grew up watching the KC Chiefs in the 60's and 70's. I went to the University of Missouri, played a little ball and majored in Agriculture. I graduated in 1980. Fast-foward about 10 years, I moved to Tennessee, where I began to teach at Morristown East High School in Morristown. I was teaching Agriculture and was approached about coaching the JV football team. I said yeah, I'll give it a go, and away we went. I played fullback at Mizzou and was excited about this job. I instilled the classic 'ground and pound' philosophy that I was taught in the 70's, with those teams. Eventually I took over as varsity coach and we won four class-6 state titles. I coached there for about 14 years before I was approached by the University of Tennessee. Their AD at the time, Bob Harner, offered me the position at defensive coordinator/secondary running backs coach. After some contemplation, I accepted the job. I coached for 5 years and that brings us here, where Mr. Harms has named me the new Head Coach in the midst of the recent cleaning of house at this university. I am pleased to tell you fans and supporters alike that I have every intention on running a straight laced program here. We will get A's, run the ball, and play defense like you wouldn't believe. I can promise you that we will restore the name of UCF here in Orlando. Tomorrow I'll be back up here giving you guys a bit more detail on my schemes, the team, and my recruiting outlook. Thank you"
