Year 91 News
The First Kickoff (7/19/09)
In the new sections I will give updates on our dynasty. Here is a small history of what we now just call "The Mega". Today we just kicked off out 91st season. Our dynasty dates back to the College Football USA days on SNES/Sega. It was started with 2 members, myself and ConnerBanks. We played a season and wrote the winner of the Championship on a football in permanet marker. I don't know where that football is today, but I can tell you I would of never thought we would of played 91 seasons over the course of 15 years and without any sign of the dynasty stopping anytime soon. The dynasty really blew up with the release of NCAA Football 1999. Generally we have 5-8 regular members playing at any given time.
Online dynasty has been an excellent addition to help us keep playing even when some of us are across the country. I am sure King Skinny and his family welcome the feature as now he don't have 5-7 guys visiting his house almost daily to get games play, geez I bet his old neighbors think he is a drug dealer! We have maintained some stats over the years and I will be working at some point to bring some of these stats over to my blog section.
The season begun just a few hours ago. It was a decent wait from getting the game early last Thursday until Today when we actually finally got kicked off. We decided to hold out for a roster file this year and my many thanks to Lanteri for completing those. We were checking his thread at *** like crazy last night. I remember in the old days we would get Athlons and name our teams and as many of the top guys in the game as we could before starting a dynasty. Anyone that has the motivation and determination to complete a roster naming task on this game is a champ in my book. ConnerBanks aligned on the conferences on paper before the game came out. The conferences are pretty neat and at some point I will probably post them on here. We decided to put all seven humans in the same conference this season. We decided on the Big East so we all have to play each other. ConnerBanks did a great job moving some teams around to keep the rest of the nation in a regional feel and even renewed some old rivalries. I am glad the season is underway, it should be a great year of football!
The Mid Season Report - "We're #1" (8/3/09)
It has been a great start to Year 91 of the Mega Dynasty. The OSU Cowboys are the number 1 team in the land after eight games. As normal, coach Boxboy has keep the normal gameplay in playing close conservative games that are mistake free and hoping to win the game late. It has really worked with the group of kids but it hasn't been easy. The "boys" lost a Heisman hope with Kendall Hunter after an elbow injury during the USC game has him out four games. Coach Boxboy said, "It has been tough without Kendall, but we are gameplanning around his absence. We have other solid players at running back and we are finding more ways to get Dez the ball."
The Cowboys pulled off a tough win in L.A. to beat USC by seven, but the OSU-OSU game may of been one of the greatest games ever playing in the dynasty. The Cowboys down 3-0 early were knocking on the door inside the ten when coach Boxboy deployed the speed option which he rarely uses; the results were devistating for the Cowboys as some how Holdman was able to go from tackling Robinson to somehow catching the pitch and running over 90 yards for a TD. The Stillwater crowd was silent as the Bucks were up 10-0.
The Buckeyes offense stalled most of the rest of the game and the two defenses took center stage. The boys got a interception and were able to take a 13-10 lead late, the team didn't panic after getting down to such a great coach early in the game. The Bucks constantly dropped eight men into coverage and Robinson had little choice but to run for a few yards are some of these plays.
The Bucks had a last chance with under two minutes to go in the game and Pryor was motivated to move them in for the win. They quickly were able to get in the redzone, but the defense was able to slow them down and earn a 4th down FG attempt at the end of regulation. Ohio State won the toss and quickly moved the ball to the two yard line where the greatest goal line stand in history may of took play. The Cowboys stuff the Bucks on 7 plays inside the five yard line after a 3rd down fask mask. Serveral of these plays were within a few inches of the goal and questionable stops accorinding to the Ohio State coaching staff. Oklahoma State kicked a FG to win in the bottom half of the Overtime. It was another excellent game between coach Boxboy and Claydog.
The most recent game was a classic OSU-OU game against WolverineFan. There was little defense in the game and several lead changes in the final minutes. The Cowboys scored in the last minute of the game when OU was able to return a kick for a Touchdown after a wonderful broken tackle only to have the return called back for a hold. It was one of the better coached games by WolverineFan even though it resulted in a loss, a few adjustments and OU comes out with the upset of the number 1 team in the nation
The number two team in the nation is currently Ole Miss (CPU), the number three team is Florida (Dynamic) and they are the Cowboys next matchup. Currently the boys lead the new look Big East, but it is anyones race as the boys still face UF and Texas who only have one Big East loss.
Oklahoma State: Big East Champs! (8/18/09)
Oklahoma State is the Big East and Orange Bowl Champs! The 'boys had a great 11-1 regular season that ended with a very bitter and contraversial finish. USC finished ahead of the Cowboys despite having two losses, with one being head to head. Coach Boxboy commented on the situation, "I see no way that USC finishes ahead of us!? We beat them and have a better record, those polls are the worst piece of toilet paper I have ever seen. Our team had to run up the score against Wake and we hope the pollsters wake the hell up and vote us for a split title. I am proud of our boys, we won the toughest conference assembled in dynasty history the first year and a paper championship would be less important to our squad than the conference championship."
Oklahoma State blew a near perfect season after leading Florida by 10 at one point in the game. Miami coach King Skinny vowed that Oklahoma State would be defeated after the coach Boxboy didn't mention the major rivalry in his blog, the defeat didn't happen as Miami was downed by seven and Cowboys rolled through the rest of the schedule.
Zac Robinson had an excellent season where he only threw three interceptions which was seven less than the next starter in the conference. The Cowboys are also making waves in recruiting with the signing of the number one player in the nation Free Saftey Robbie Franklin whom will fill a much needed hole in the OSU defense next season. This season is almost over as we await the finish of the last few bowl games and the BCS national Title between a false USC and USF.
Cowboys Finish 3rd (8/24/09)
OSU finished the season 3rd in the polls after a close USC overtime win against USF. Coach Boxboy has self declared a national title for the Cowboys after finishing a 12-1 season, winning the Big East, and defeating USC in the regular season.

Week 1 @ ND (Big East Game)
South Bend (AP)
It was a tough game in South Bend to open year 91 of the Mega Dynasty, the 1st year after a major changes to the FBS conferences. This was a opening day game in the newly formed ultra tough Big East. Oklahoma State's offense struggled early in the game, but they were able to avoid the turnover bug for the day. The same could not be said for Jimmy Clausen, whom threw 2 interceptions early in the game, althought he was able to recover for a decent day with a td and nearly 250 yards in a narrow loss. Pre-Season 2nd team All-American Kendall Hunter got hot late in the game ripping off a couple huge runs in an effort for 172 yards. Hunter was able to seal the win with a touchdown run in the final minute of the contest and Notre Dame was able to put a last second touchdown up on OSU's 2nd team defense to make it look better on paper.
OSU Coach Boxboy1999 was not very pleased with the performance of his team in the opener. "I am happy we won the game and didn't turn the ball over. Kendall had a great day, but the passing game didn't do much. We need to find ways to get Dez the ball in the open field so he can make some plays. Hats off to Notre Dame they did a great job covering our wide outs all game long. They had a solid press and we just were lucky they were not able to come up with a big plan on defense. It is going to take a much better effort going forward, and I think this proved why we were picked 6th in the new Big East."
Oklahoma State will face in state rival Tulsa next Saturday.
