So, that leaves the Cats with a 6-1 record, 3-1 in SEC play. The win at LSU was huge as the Tigers held UK to just 190 yards of total offense, but the Cats were able to eek out a victory due in large part to turnovers: LSU had 3, UK 0.
Randall Cobb has been the top Heisman candidate all season so far, with 39 rec. for 756 yds and 9 TD's at WR, 328 yds and 4 TD's rushing, and 51 yards and 1 TD on 6-11 passing, as well as returning kicks and punts (no TD's yet though).
Cobb has taken an even larger role than expected in the rushing game, after Jr. HB Donald Russell was declared out for the season with a broken collar bone suffered in game 2 against WKU. So. HB Jonathan George has shown some promise stepping in (147 yds in OT win vs. Ole Miss) but has also had some clunkers (17 yds in loss to UGA).
The team defense has been excellent against the run (#14 in nation), but terrible against the pass (#114).
Looking Ahead
Obviously, the Cats are in great shape right now to make a return trip to the SEC Championship. Despite losing to East Division rival Georgia, the Bulldogs helped the Cats out by losing their next game. These next two games against Mississippi State - a team that shocked UK with a win at home late last season - and then at home against Florida, are crucial.
