I Sim the first season in order to get rid of expiring contracts to free up cap space for the draft and FA. My goal this offseason is acquire our future PG and a young PF to take over that spot as well.
OFFSEASON
After simming we finished the year 31-51, 11 games better then last year. As a result we obtain the 5th pick in the draft and the 4th pick in the 2nd round of the draft.
THE DRAFT
In the 1rst round, with the 5th pick we selected PG Andrew Harrison out of Kentucky. Hopefully he would prove to be the PG we need.
And in the 2nd round with the 4th pick we drafted PF Patric Young out of Florida.
FREE AGENCY
Entering FA with $34.08M with 4 spots to fill I was confident I could build around my core players Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, and Nikola Vucevic.
First to sign was C Robin Lopez 2yrs/$5.64M
He gives us size that we definitely needed up front.
PF Shane Battier signed with us for 1yr/$890K
Stretches the defense with his shooting range and his perimeter and low post defense really will make a difference in our front court.
C O.J. Lynch was signed to a 1 yr/$490K deal to serve as a bench fodder.
PG Patrick Mills signs 2yrs/$5.13M
A serviceable PG to relieve Andrew Harrison. Also has great shooting range.
After that signing we have $27.52M left over which could turn into a big signing if we find the right circumstances.

I simulated the first season to start in the offseason. With Varejao traded and no solid center I was excited to see Dwight Howard was a fee agent. I immediately signed him to give my front court an immediate lift. After Howard was signed I had to address the three spot Alonzo Gee was good but in my opinion to small to guard the bigger three men. So I looked to the draft luckily we had the 5th overall pick and with it I selected James McAdoo out of NC. In the second round with the first pick we selected Adonis Thomas. That ensure that our three spot would be young and develope two potentially great SFs.

Tristan Thompson may take over the starting role at PF sometime during the season. Adonis Thomas is a young SF with potential I may keep him and groom him into a dominate 6th man. Or he could be traded later in the season to a team that shows they want him. (future draft picks)
