I think we can all agree the Super Bowl had plenty of bad calls on each side, poor reffing throughout the entire game, missed calls etc. But for a D like the Patriots who have so many undrafted guys off the street starting, or playing significant playing time, its like 4+ which is absurd for a NFL defense. If BB can make these untalented guys, hold the Giants to 21 points, and hit them in the mouth, what will he do when he spends most his picks on D bc they have so many picks early they could fix all there problems asap if they actually draft defensive player. Speaking of defensive players, how about Brandon Spikes! He had 11 tackles, and a forced fumble, and had a recovery that was nullified by a stupid penalty in the Super Bowl. He had 26 tackles, 1 sack, 3 passes defended, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in the postseason. Talk about a coming out party, add him to Wilfork, Mayo who had even more tackles, McCourty, and Chung. And who ever they add in the Draft, NE could easily be back here 3 more times before Brady retires, and BAL and PIT getting older really helps! If NE keeps using all those picks BB has hoarded over the years, and keep drafting defensive depth they could have a top 10 D in no time bc right now, its there depth that makes them bad, bc there starters are really good, but anytime they sub out players, the other team always attacks that player bc they know hes not that good!

You bring up some great points. I have not thought much about football in the last 48 hours because the loss still sings too much, but the Pats have a solid young foundation. Spikes has been a pleasant surprise, I was starting to wonder when and if he would arrive. We build the D and get a stud 6' 5" WR and the odds of going back are very strong.

It's not the drafting it's the coaching. The defense was great under Romeo and they had vets on their defense. Now it's all about making the right calls and putting your defense in the best position. They do lack some depth but being 31st in the league in defense has more to do with the coaching philosophy and less to do with player personell.
Like you said Spikes was great this postseason and that's truly based off of raw talent. Watching the Pats Defense during the playoffs and especially in the superbowl they have extremely talented players across the board. The need better coaching.
On offense simply put they needed Gronk. He is the player they wanted Moss to be. Great Hands, Athletic and not scared to go across the middle. Also he can stretch a five yard pass to 35 yards. Not having Gronk 100% hurt the Pats.

Even though the Pats are young, Brady will be 35 heading into 2012. It's hard to imagine him having three elite years left in the tank.

People also said it was nuts that the Patriots even kept Brady on the roster his rookie season.
Anything can happen.

If Brady can get that atleast around top 15 defense, and some are saying their interested in a Brandon Lloyd or Vincent Jackson at WR they can win 2 or so more rings with those guys. And remember they have 2 1st, 1 2nd and like 3 3rds this draft so they can get any players in the league now, or a draft pick they want! And knowing BB, he will trade that 2nd 1st for a 2nd this year and a 1st next year so again next season they will have 2 #1s.
